Too much sleep?

H

olidays
are great, but I think I am getting too much sleep! Is that possible? I have been getting 9-10 hours a night, and then throughout the day, I feel exhausted!

Have you ever experienced anything like this?

I have been doing the 30 Day Shred, and I've increased my weights from 2 lbs. to 5 lbs. to make it more challenging.

Re-cap:

Wednesday evening I made lasagna for dinner. I had 1 piece (that fell apart on me):

Thursday morning I had 2 grapefruits, and 1 red pepper blended up in my Vita-Mix:

I also snacked on some snap peas. Lunch was a tiny piece of leftover lasagna.

For dinner I made a chicken curry, served over sticky rice:

I snacked on 2 pieces of watermelon Thursday evening.

This morning I had a small serving of chicken curry for breakfast (weird, I know!) and some snap peas:

I met a friend for lunch and had 1/2 of this bowl that was full of veggies, brown rice, tofu and peanut sauce:

This evening the hubby, some friends, and I are heading out to a small town outside of our city to go to a friend's place for the night. She always comes into the city on the weekend to see us, so this time it is our turn to go visit her.

What are your plans for the weekend?

How much sleep do you get in a night?
Do you ever feel "off" after too much sleep?

Do you ever eat non-breakfast foods for breakfast?

Oh I definitely think you can get too much sleep and feel more exhausted from it. I typically get 8-9 hours each night (or that's the goal).

Yes you probably are getting TOO much sleep! I get 7-8 hours normally so when I sleep for longer than 9 or 10 hours I feel REALLY sluggish and gross all day long! Maybe start doing the 30-day shred when you first wake up? I find that doing a workout when I first wake up really helps - more than coffee!

Have a nice weekend!

Do you buy sticky rice or is it rice that is somehow made "sticky"? I love to eat it but don't know how to make it!

That is some good looking curry!

I find that I can sleep 9-10 hours ok on vacation (and sometimes during real life). What knocks me out is taking a too-long nap.

Yeah, I definitely get too tired from too much sleep, but I haven't experienced that in a while! Between the cats, kids and my internal alarm clock, I never seem to get enough sleep. We totally eat stuff at weird times. My youngest son normally asks for dinner leftovers for breakfast.

Holy moly girl! Looking back through all of your yummy food photos is making me hungry! :)

I definitely find that if I get more than 8 hours of sleep I feel even more tired and lethargic.

I'm looking forward to a fun blogger brunch tomorrow morning, a housewarming party for a close friend in the afternoon, followed by a baseball game Saturday night. Then Sunday is relaxation time. :) Enjoy your weekend!!

Wow. The grapefruit slush looks amazing! Mouth is watering.

I totally feel you on the too much sleep thing. Sleeping in makes me feel groggy all day long, whereas 7-8 hours, I feel alert and stimulated.

I usually dont get much sleep. When I was younger though and I did sleep a lot, I did find myself much more lazy throughout the day!

if I'm wanting the taste of something for breakfast...I'll eat it! One time I heated up an Amy's burrito and ate that! :) BTW 9-10 hours..Jolene, there IS such a thing as too much sleep..no wonder you are tired! hahaha. I usually have to get at least 7-8 to be functional!

Jolene, I'm experiencing the SAME thing! I've been sleeping 9-10 hours every night, and I get even more tired. It's annoying. I'm going to have to force myself to wake up earlier in the morning starting tomorrow!

your lasagna looks delish.. i usually get about 5-6 hours of sleep, not by choice :-).. i wish i could get more.. but i do agree sometimes when you sleep to much you can definitely feel out of it for awhile.. this weekend, i'm catching up with blogging (i've been away for awhile) and just enjoying not having much to do today, the past few weekends have been super busy.. i hope you have a great summer.. and enjoy the 9-10 hours of sleep... you may not have it all the time..

Hmm, grapefruit + red pepper? Interesting - I bet it's very tangy and a good wake-up juice!

There was a time when I was younger when all I would eat for breakfast was fried mozzarella sticks - it drove my family nuts! I argued (and still do argue) that breakfast is just another meal in the morning, no need for it to be traditionally sweet!

9-10 sounds like heaven to me :) My body balances out though if I sleep that much I cant sleep the next night very well so I go for 8 a night! You probably need it though, so enjoy!

If I sleep for too long I get a terrible headache and feel fatigued all day. It's quite irritating. Maybe cut back to 7-8 per night for awhile and see if that helps?

Yep, too much sleep schnockers me. Yes, that is a word in my vocabulary. I actually got 10 hours last night, and feel lagging today.

There is always that time around 6am where I sort of wake up naturally in the morning, but I keep closing my eyes and going for another two. On the days when I snap out of it at 6am I feel much better, but it is hard to catch myself!

Oh yeah, too much sleep is for SURE possible. And then your body gets used to it and then less sleep is not a good thing haha
That lasagna looks soooo yummy! I haven't had it in forever!

I think if I was consistently getting that much sleep and then feeling exhausted, I might see a doctor just to make sure I wasn't anemic or anything. Just an idea.

If I cross into the "too much sleep" zone I am zonked all day!

I sleep between 6-8 hours each night. If I get too much sleep for a few nights in a row, I definitely feel a bit more exhausted!

I usually sleep 5-8 hours with most nights closer to the 5 hours. When I was unhealthy I'd sleep too much lots and like you I'd feel like I was exhausted and need to sleep more?!
