Currently

It's been a while since I've done a Currently post.  I saw this on Amber's blog recently, and decided to play along.

I’m Currently…

feeling like hibernating most daysI don't like the cold, and I'm looking forward to a cozy weekend inside sooner than later.

writing not much since my thesis is done!  I'm still so happy about that.

reading infrequently.  I have bookmarks in the middle of about four books, but can't seem to get around to finishing them.

listening to the clock tick & the furnace run ... In terms of music, I listened to vinyls last night at our friends' place, and Snoop Dogg on the way to and from work today.

eating nothing.  Although last night Donny & Edith had us over for a winyl night (wine & vinyls), and pizza.  This evening I made potato soup with biscuits.

wishing for warm winter weather when we go to Denver this February.

enjoying more sleep these days.  I've gotten into a routine of going to bed by 9:30 on week nights (occasionally even earlier)!

drinking water.

learning ... I'm always learning something ... about myself, about life, in school, etc..  Never stop learning!

thinking about what to make for supper tomorrow.  I'm also thinking it's time for bed.

loving Lorde's disc, this chic's fashion, and that this scary, knife wielding fella protects me from bad guys and monsters:

Dinners Lately

Last week the temperature dropped to about -40, which was awful, but perfect for the chili dinner we had planned.

Even better with garlic bread for dipping:

On Saturday evening we had plans to make moose pizza.  We thawed the moose, chopped the veggies, and got everything ready ... then we realized not only did we forget to thaw the dough ... we had no dough.  We were short on time and weren't about to make dough from scratch, so we made rice instead and had what we now like to call, pizza rice.

It was fantastic.  Cheesey, full of flavour, and topped with sriracha it became a meal we'll likely make again.  We had leftovers to enjoy when we got home late after Christopher's show.

Last night we had breakfast for dinner.  We had batter left from Sunday's breakfast, so we had more pancakes, with bacon and hash browns.

Tonight we have fun dinner plans!

What have you been eating for dinner lately?

Rider Win!!

Last night the Saskatchewan Roughriders made history and won the Grey Cup at home!  We snacked a bit before the game, and then around half time we snacked some more:

Cheese fondue with meatballs, endive, brussels, broccoli, and focaccia bread to dip:

And king crab legs dipped in melty butttah:

I hear there was quite the party downtown and parties all throughout the city.  We heard some fireworks from the house, but we hid away from the crowds and crashed early.

Do you snack on big game days like Grey Cup or Superbowl?

Grey Cup Sunday

The biggest sporting event in Saskatchewan's history is today.  The Saskatchewan Roughriders (CFL) are playing in the Grey Cup, and we are hosting it right here in Regina.  It's a pretty big deal, and the city has been hopping all week.  Last night we headed out to the German Club because Christopher's band was playing a pre Grey Cup show with a couple of other bands.

This morning Christopher made a delicious breakfast including buttermilk pancakes, bacon, and waffle iron hash browns.

We plan on snacking throughout the game and have started already:

How was your weekend everyone?
Canadian friends, what are you doing for the game?

Wednesday Night Out

On Wednesday evening we tried a newer Indian restaurant in town, Caraway Grill.

We started with the pakora:

I had the korma chicken, and Christopher had the lamb biryani.

Christopher's lamb was cooked perfectly!

On the side we had two orders of naan, and one order of rice.

The prices at this restaurant are very reasonable; the entire meal only came to $35.  The food was great, and the portions are large.  I had lunch for the next day and both of us were painfully full.

After dinner we headed to Bushwakker to see hear some live music, courtesy of our friends in Kory Istace vs. The Time Pirates

Happy Friday!
What do you have planned for the weekend?

Midweek Musings

On Monday evening I came home from work and Christopher had a roast chicken all ready to go into the oven - mmmm!  Not much smells better than a chicken roasting.

He made roasted potatoes and corn with it; and we also ate some of the carrots and celery that were in the pan with the chicken.

The leftover chicken made great sandwiches for a quick and easy dinner last night.  After dinner I snacked a bit at a little gathering for my friend Jessie who is having a baby very soon ...

My friend Jocelyn put together a great spread of goodies!!  It was a lot for six ladies, so she made sure to send me home with a plate for the boy ;-)

Tonight we're headed out on the town!

How has your week been so far?

Monday Meme

I saw this survey on Rebecca's blog and decided to play along ...

Where is your cell phone?  On the table in front of me.

Your significant other?   Christopher - he is sitting beside me.

Your hair?  Just got it cut a couple weeks ago.  It's shoulder length and I love it!  Thanks Ronda!

Your mother?  Her birthday is on Saturday.  We just visited her last weekend, and we'll see her again around Christmas.

Your father?  Is 72 and still working full time and loving it.  He's got more energy than any 72 year old I've ever seen!

Your favourite thing?  Dancing, eating, food, cooking, blogging, music, Christopher, vacations, water slides, dinner parties, laughing, etc. etc.. Not necessarily in that order.  I have a lot of favourites.

Your dream last night?  I've been having bad dreams the last couple of nights.  Last night I dreamed that Christopher and I lived in a condo and someone was trying to steal our cars from outside.  In the dream he sent me out to check - bahahaha!

Your favourite drink?  Water, wine, etc. etc..

Your dream/goal?  Live in NY for a year at some point.  Complete a doctorate degree.

The room you are in?  The living room.  I blog from the couch.

Your fear?  Spiders.

Where do you want to be in six years?  On vacation.

Where were you last night?  At home snacking, watching the Rider game and other TV.

What are you not?  Disorganized.

Muffins?  They are alright.  I like when the top is gooey.  I don't like them if they are even a little bit dry.  I never make them.  I miss my mom's muffins.

One of your wish list items?  Apricot coloured eyeshadow.  I still have some from The Body Shop that I got as a kid and I rarely use it because I don't want to use it up.  They discontinued it ages ago.

Where you grew up?  My parents ran a summer camp two hours north of Saskatoon.  It was a farm with many acres of land, a lake, pool, animals, etc..  Our house was there and it was a pretty sweet place to live.  We moved to Regina when I was eight.

The last thing you did?  Made two loaves of bread.

What are you wearing?  Black Lulu Lemon pants and a black Gap tee.  Lounging clothes.

Your TV?  Is not very big, but I don't care.  It is the perfect size for the room.  Christopher is watching Seinfeld at the moment.

Your pets?  No pets.  We both had pets growing up but do not want to get any in the future.

Your computer?  Acer laptop.  My old one crashed a few months ago and so this one is new.

Your life?  The younger me would be jealous of the life I am living now.  I'm very happy.

Your mood?  Hungry.  Is that a mood?  It is now.  There is a chicken roasting in the oven - yum yum!

Your car?  Is awesome.  It's a Mitsubishi Lancer that I've had for about 9 years, and it's never broken down.  I will buy another when this one eventually dies.

Something you're not wearing?  Socks.

Favourite store?  I really like the little boutiques in NY for shopping for clothes, but other than that I love Chapters, Urban Barn, Crocus & Ivy, Anthropology, Shopper's Drug Mart ...

Your summer?  Was great as usual ... I don't work in the summer!  We went to Vegas too - that was fun!

Like someone?  Duh.

Your favourite colour?  Black.

When was the last time you laughed?  I pretty much laugh every moment when I'm at home.

Last time you cried?  No idea.  Sometimes I start tearing up from laughing so hard (see previous question).

What is one thing on your to-do list?  Christmas shop!

Choose some (or all) of the questions above to answer in the comments!

Dinner Guests

We spent most of yesterday morning cooking and prepping, because last night Mel and Steve came over for dinner

They came bearing pretty flowers:

We started with some appetizers, including cheese/meat/crackers, Korean rice pockets, and homemade shrimp fresh rolls.

Easy Peanut Sauce for Fresh Rolls

1/4 cup hoisin
2 T peanut butter
1 tsp rice vinegar
1/2 tsp sesame oil

Mix.  Enjoy.

Next we enjoyed a warm lobster salad:

You can find the recipe here.

The third course was clam chowder soup:

For the main course we ate creamy parmesan fusilli:

Bread with oil and vinegar on the side ...

Christopher got to try out his baking skills ... he made sopapilla cheesecake pie, and it turned out perfectly.

We also had chocolate & vanilla bean, pear crumble.

I love these people!

We had a fun, late night with plenty of laughs.

How was your weekend?  What did you do?
