Meet my friends this morning ...

I am taking a HEALTH day (aka a sick day), but I prefer to focus on the fact that I am trying to restore my good health.

Last night before bed I had an apple:

Some Mary's Organic Rice crackers with light herb and garlic cream cheese:

And a Hot Toddie ... recommended to me by Maggie from TheSaladGirl. Her dad is one smart man, because this definitely soothed my throat for a while! I didn't have any lemon, but I mixed hot water, honey, cinnamon sticks, and cloves and drank it down. Tasty, and effective!

This morning I slept in until about 10:00, then I got up and made a Green Monster of course. In addition to 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 3 handfuls of spinach and 1 banana, I added:

1 T of Peanut Butter:

And 1 package of wheat grass:

I drank it from a Heineken glass:

The good thing is, I still have my appetite. And I don't have a fever.
This makes me almost certain that I just have a cold.
I have a headache, sore throat (not as bad anymore) and stuffy/ runny nose, with a general tired feeling all over. With this whole H1N1 thing, people are very adamant that if you are SICK, stay HOME. So that is what I am doing.

No matter what I do (eat healthy, eat plenty of fruits and veggies, exercise etc) I still get a cold or two each winter, and usually the flu once. It must be because I am around so many germs all day at work ... I can't figure it out. Do you get a cold every year?

No matter what I do, I always get a cold or two every winter, and I do exactly what you are doing- I rest and take a break from "life" and it goes away quickly.
I have noticed that ever since I started exercising a lot and making a huge effort to eat healthily, I get sick a lot less. Exercise is a great immuno-boost!

Yay, it worked!

I haven't actually got sick in a while, but I'm sure I'm due for a nasty cold this year. Yuck. Will definitely be having lots of hot toddies if I do get sick.

Oh no hun! I hope you feel better soon!

For me, I either have REALLY sick years (where I have a cold the whole time pretty much), or I have nothing - like last year, I didn't even get the sniffles once! I hope this year is the same :P

I got broncitius every single year since around 2002 but not this year.

Since I've been cooking from stratch my allergies aren't bothering me and instead of feeling ill as the weather changes I'm feeling better than ever.

Hope you feel better soon, the warm tea and honey will help a lot :)

So weird...I have that exact same tea and love it!! Already had 2 mugs today...with 2 mugs of Hot chocolate and 2 mugs of rooiboos tea...yeah, I have a problem with hot drinks - well, it's cheaper than Starbucks right?? Hope you feel better soon - lemon/honey tea works wonders too. And LaraBars are delish - I recommend the ApplePie :) Take care of that cold girl.

Oh and answer your question, I'm (knock on wood) lucky and rarely get the cold/flu...which is lucky considering I work in healthcare around a lot of sick people.
