Summer Lovin', had me a Blast ...

Ooooooooh, I've just been lovin' summer, and really trying to make the most of it, getting outside a lot, trying new recipes etc..  This week I met up with a few my ladies for a farmers' market trip and picnic lunch.

I picked up some peas, beets, zucchini, and potatoes.

I also had lunch with my sister this week at Table 10, where I got the beet salad.

And Christopher and I met our new niece Remi.  She's perfect.

I love this picture of her and her cousin - only days old and giving him a little smile.

After hitting the farmers' market on Wednesday, I also swung by the fresh fish shop and picked up some salmon and tuna.  We had the salmon Wednesday evening for dinner, along with mushroom risotto and some of the peas I bought at the market.

I baked bagels for the first time ever this week.

It's a bit of a process, with kneading, letting them rise three times, and boiling for a few seconds before baking ... but they turned out beautifully.

Breakfast this morning was obviously a bagel.  I had some yogurt too.

I made tangy, pork friend rice for lunch when Christopher came home on his break.  He loved the lime and cilantro flavours.

And tonight we had the tuna that I got at the fresh fish shop.

We seared it for just seconds on each side, and served it up with peas, beets & goat cheese, a tomato salad, and homemade dinner buns.

This week flew by!

What do you have planned for the weekend?

Your niece is beautiful and I love her name! Congrats on being an auntie again! Looks like you had lots of good eats during the week. Yum, it all looks so good! I spent the weekend at a lake cabin with some girlfriends. We made 3 meals in and ate 2 meals out which was the perfect mix for us. For my meal, I made a sweet potato hash with chicken sausage, served with eggs. It was so goood!
