Fantastic Weekend of Fun

This was our first weekend at home in a while, and it was fabulous!  We got dressed up and went out on the town on Friday, starting at Capitol.

We enjoyed some raw oysters and visited, laughing at the kids in the apartment above who were yelling out about Pokemon that were apparently hanging out on the patio with us.

We wandered over to Malt City next, and snacked on some fries.

Later on in the evening we went to the rooftop of the tallest building in town, to check out the view and enjoy dinner.  20Ten has a beautiful rooftop, and this was our first time up there.

Our server brought us an amouse bouche, but it wasn't very memorable.

We shared the coconut shrimp as an appetizer, and both really enjoyed them.  They were super crispy, and the sauce was great.

Christopher had the shrimp, asparagus fettuccine special, and I had the honey-pistachio chicken.  Both of our dishes were really good, especially the cream cheese, bacon croquettes that came with my mine.

We enjoyed our meal, and the experience.

After dinner we wandered around the Folk Festival vendor area for a bit, and then made our way home.  It was a really fun night out.

On Saturday morning we were up bright and early starting on prep for dinner guests.

Our friends Colin and Erica came over in the late afternoon, and we enjoyed some snacks in the backyard.

We had caprese salad skewers:

Crispy polenta with eggplant, rustic tomato sauce, and smoked cheddar:

And chicken, bacon pizza, with an Alfredo base, corn, red onion, and black olives.

We moved inside for pasta and bread.

And then had apple crisp with ice cream for dessert.

We stayed up late visiting and then slept in this morning.  Today we lounged around a bit, and also stopped by our friends' Matt and Alissa's place for a while this afternoon, as it was their daughter Vienna's birthday.  They're within walking distance of us, which is really nice.  We caught up with pals in the backyard, and enjoyed some awesomely, delicious chili (with toppings) and pulled pork.

How was your weekend?  What did you do?

Your date night sounds so fun! I love that you guys got all dressed up! The meal you made for your guests sounded awesome!

My weekend with my girlfriends was really fun. Unfortunately I was sick with a bad chest cold all weekend so that kind of put a damper on things for me, but I made the most of it. I came home and took a 2 hour nap yesterday which really helped!
