Victoria Day

There have been many, many May long weekends that I can remember when the weather was horrible.  This was not one of them.  Although this winter felt long, we've had some pretty incredible days for this time of year, and this was a perfect, beautiful May long weekend.

We started this holiday Monday with cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes:

Later in the day we went for a walk to the lake near our house, and stopped for some lawnmower gas on the way home.

It's a treat to be mowing the lawn on May long - there have been years when we've still had snow!

The temp got to about 28 C, and we cooled off with some David's iced tea and a popsicle bevvie on the patio.

Tunes too of course!

For dinner we BBQd a turkey, along with a potato/ carrot/ mushroom mixture.

I think this might have been our first time doing a turkey on the BBQ, but we'll definitely make it this way again.  We rubbed it with sesame oil, and sprinkled it with salt, pepper, ginger, garlic, galangal and ground coriander.  The veggies were done with sesame oil, ginger, salt and pepper.

Now it's time to do a load of laundry, catch a TV show or two, and then it's off to bed to get refreshed for a wonderful week ahead.

Have you ever cooked a turkey on the BBQ?  Did you spend some time outside this weekend?  If you're Canadian how did you spend the holiday Monday?  For my American readers, do you have anything fun planned for your upcoming long weekend?

My parents have made lots of turkeys on the grill. They are sooo good! I’m glad the weather was nice for your long weekend. It seems like the weather is usually rainy for our long weekend in May but this year the forecast looks good! We have very little planned which I am happy about after having a busy weekend this past weekend!
