Last Day

T

oday is the last day of my summer holidays. Time really does fly when you are having fun, because the past two months have felt like 2 weeks.

Yesterday I realized that I had not had hot oatmeal all summer. It was raining, cold and dreary, so I thought it would be the perfect day to get back to my hot oatmeal breakfasts.

I made a loaded bowl of mocha oats (1/2 cup coffee, 1/2 cup unsweetened chocolate almond breeze, 1/2 cup quick oats). My toppings included: PB, Strawberries, Blueberries, Chia Seeds:

I wasn't really hungry for lunch yesterday, so I just had a few tablespoons of leftover dip from Friday with about 8 tortilla chips.

My little nephew Giovanni came over for a sleepover last night. We had meatloaf and mushroom risotto for dinner, and then we played and watched Ice Age.

This morning we were up by 8:00, and we had some leftover wifesaver for breakfast:

We met my sister (Giovanni's mom) for lunch at the Creek Bistro. I had a mushroom omelet with tabbouleh salad.

I am going to miss my relaxing days off - I still can't believe I go back to work tomorrow! I have 3 days to plan, and then the kids return on Monday.

I am off to do some back-to-school shopping!

Are you in school? What are you taking?
Do you like back-to-school time?
Or, what do you miss most about school, or back-to-school time?

Next week, I am back at University (for my Master's in Ed. Psych.). I am taking full-time classes while working full-time, so it will be a busy semester!

I miss back to school for the feeling of a fresh start and seeing friends who were gone for the summer. Oh, and the parties :) Not so much for the actual school part. This is probably bad since I'm considering going back to school next year, haha.

Have a good first day!

No, I've been done with school for a long time. Which, is a good thing because I just wasn't a SCHOOL person. I'm a workaholic, which is just ironic since I lost my FT job last year :/ Yeahhh...growing up is TOUGH! It's still awesome...in a totally different way :)

I'll be starting my junior year in college at the University of Florida. Studying photojournalism at the moment but who knows what will happen...

I love back-to-school time because everything feels like a fresh start and there's an energy about campus that only happens at the start of a new semester.

I can't believe it is already back to school time! That is just crazy.

I am done w/ school. For good! I finished my masters about a year ago, and that program sort of did me in. I loved school, but after that, I just HAD IT with school...

I hope this is a great school year for you, though! I do miss back to school shopping!!

I'm not in school, and I don't have kids. For some reason, though, I always feel excited when I see all the "back to school" stuff. I always loved going back when I was young. A new year, a fresh start. It felt more important that New Year's Eve to me.

Dear Jolene, are you trying to kill yourself?! Whoa, you're gonna be busy...I wish you all the best!
I'm back in school now, and loving it. The first week is always the most exciting, and then it tapers off to stress....hahaha.

I'm not in school, but I work at one as an administrative assistant. I love the busyness of back to school time, but I have to say that slower summer days are also quite fun :)

I homeschool my 3 kids so summer break is almost over for me too.

We eat oatmeal for a snack all the time! It's great with some PB2 powder in it!

I'm in Dentistry at the U of S now, but did 2 years of pre-dent at U of R. Had read your blog before, but didn't realize that you were located in Sask! Just wondering - where do you buy your chia seeds, or do you order them online?

I am not enjoying back-to-school time very much this year, as 3rd year dentistry is a very heavy course load. We started on Monday and I already have 2 tests next week! Yikes! Good luck with school. Enjoy your shopping. :)
