Five on Friday

1)  I'm not one to buy products from home based parties ... in fact, I don't even attend these parties;  however, occasionally I'll happen upon a product from one of these companies that I end up really liking.  Christopher often delivers to the same homes or business quite regularly, and one kind woman gives him Epicure products every Christmas.  One thing he received this year was this mustard:

It is sooooo good!  We have been enjoying it with mini meatballs.

2)  The weekend following Christmas, we went to Saskatoon (more on that in the next post).  When we drove back into town, we stopped at Christopher's parents' house so he could shovel their walk for them, and they invited us to stay for roast beef dinner - mmmmmm!  It had been years since I had roast beef dinner, so I was pretty excited.

3)  The 25 most popular food trucks for 2013 ... and 9 of them are in NYC!

4)  Cora's seems to be a pretty popular breakfast joint.  We just got one in Regina recently and it's been lined up every day.  A friend and I decided to try getting in on Monday, and were able to after a 30 minute wait.

I don't see what the big deal is ... the food was average, and the service wasn't great.  The waitress dropped a piece of bacon on the floor right in front of our table, picked it up and took it away, but never replaced it!?  It's not that I needed the extra piece of bacon, but she should have at least offered to replace it.

5)  It's become a bit of a tradition for us to stay in on New Years Eve and cook up a seafood feast.  This New Years we started with escargot, tuna sashimi, and assorted cheeses:

The main course consisted of lobster, king crab, tiger shrimp, roasted asparagus, and bread.

What did you do on New Years Eve?
What are you up to this weekend?

I am a little bit surprised that none of the food trucks from Minneapolis made the list as we have a huge food truck culture and one of them is known for having one of the best lobster rolls in the US! I love food trucks - such a fun concept for dining.

Your NYE looks epically delicious. Mine was epically lackluster. I stayed in, ate leftovers and worked on a puzzle... I sort of just pretended it was a regular Tues night.

I love Cora's for the huge fruit assortments - i order the bagel with lox (no cream cheese) and it comes with a MASSIVE plate of fruit! So good!

We were all sick New Years so we didn't do a thing!

Food trucks line the block where I work here in NYC...I definitely need to give them a try!

He shovels the walk? Amazingly sweet.

Just checked the food truck link and ironically, most of these are places I pass by every day! Too funny.
