On Saturday evening we ventured to cook a bunch of Indian food, none of which we had cooked before. We made dhingri dulma (mushroom, bell pepper & paneer curry), konju masala (shrimp curry), chana masala (chickpea curry), basmati rice and homemade naan.
Everything turned out really well, especially the naan and shrimp curry. We grooved to Bollywood hits while enjoying this delicious meal. Haha - it was fun ;-)
Homemade Garlic Naan - Easy!!
(Adapted from: Naan)
3 cups bread flour
2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1.5 tsp baking powder
3 T olive oil
1 1/4 cups warm milk (more if needed)
Approx. 1 T melted butter
Garlic powder
Sift the flour and add dry ingredients. Add the oil and milk, and more milk if too dry. Knead for 10 minutes (I used KitchenAid attachment). Roll out into 8 ovals, brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder. Broil on high for 2 minutes - watch closely! Put the racks a couple places down from the top in the oven. Don't flip. Remove and enjoy.
What was the best thing you ate this weekend? Have you ever cooked Indian food?

holy snap...now all you need are some cherries inside that naan :)
@ Jennifer - Haha YES! You know it girl!
Yum! That sounds and looks delicious! I tried making chana masala once but was kind of disappointed with how it turned out as it did not taste as good as what I have had in restaurants.
The best thing I hate this weekend was definitely the green curry that I got at the thai restaurant we went to on Saturday night!
Gah, I love Indian food and chana masala. Jealous!
YUM!! We love Indian Food! That looks amazing - where did you get the recipes from?
@ Amber - a cookbook that I think is called "Indian Recipes" or "Indian Cooking" - It's white and comes in a cloth bag (from Chapters).
Oh, Indian feasts are right up there with my favorite kind of feasts. And I could live off chana masala, I swear. And naan too! Though the last time I made it, the dough got too gluten-y. I really like making them on pizza stones right under the broiler!
You sure are adventurous! The only Indian I've had is pumpkin curry and samosas and I've never tried cooking it.
I have a new post up.
luv it thankxxxxxxxxxxx
Finally, finally made this naan bread! YUM
