Cobb Salad

E

ver since the hubby and I watched Julie and Julia together, we have wanted to try Cobb salad.  It only took about a year for us to finally make and try this popular salad that for some reason has eluded us throughout our lives.

Dinner last night = My first Cobb salad.

Of course, we were much less picky than Julie and her friends, and we loaded the salad up with avocado, bacon, cheese, tomato, chicken, and hard boiled egg.  All of this was placed on a mixture of romaine and iceberg lettuce, and topped with an easy red wine vinegar, olive oil, garlic, mustard powder, and pinch of sugar dressing.

Lunch yesterday was also pretty awesome.  I have never been a fan of sandwiches, because I never made GOOD sandwiches.  After a year of reading blogs, and getting ideas from other foodies, I have gotten better at coming up with sandwich ideas.  I had turkey, gruyere, lettuce, pickles, and banana peppers on rye bread with mustard.  It was excellent.  I enjoyed that sandwich with an apple, and 1/2 cup of yogurt with 1 tsp PB.

I also had an ice-cappuccino yesterday, because Wednesday is Ice-Cap day at work!!!

Breakfast this morning was a slice of "friendship loaf" and 2 scrambled eggs with hot sauce.

Have you ever had a Cobb salad?  Have you ever made one?
What do you have planned for the weekend?

I have never made a cobb salad, but I have definitely ordered quite a few in restaurants. I totally forgot that they had that on Julie & Julia!

I don't have much planned for the weekend. It's marathon weekend here in Minneapolis/St Paul so I am hoping to go to the expo and then I will maybe watch some of the race on Sunday. Other than that, I need to pack for my trip!!

Your salad looks lovely! I have never made cobb salad myself, but I would have to make too many modifications- i.e. no bacon and extra avocado!

I'm looking forward to sleeping this weekend!

I love cobb salads!! But i'm sooo lazy lately..I need to change up my diet! anyways, I think sandwiches don't get the love they deserve! at the end of the day it's the most comforting thing..especially when you jazz it up jolene style!

I think I have, but didn't know it was a "Cobb" ;)

Any salad loaded with eggs, veggies, cheese, fish maybe, nuts...whatever is typical for me!

Thank you for your support...going through a tough time (still). Wondering when it'll all break even or ever.

I tried a Cobb Salad about a week ago, actually! It had romaine, avocado, tomato, chicken, egg, and bacon. It was really good, but also really rich. Almost too rich!
