Chocolate Brownies

S

omeone at work (hey Sharon) told me to eat chocolate today.

I am a very good listener.

Read to the bottom for a delicious chocolate brownie recipe!

For breakfast I had a couple slices of the chocolate banana coconut loaf that I made yesterday. I also had 2 eggs with a slice of cheese melted in. A few people commented about my use of hot sauce on my eggs (yesterday's post). I use Sriracha, which I don't find hot at all - so that is why I use so much :-)

Lunch was leftover veggie pizza and an orange.

The hubby BBQ'd organic t-bones for dinner, with some sweet potato fries. I whipped up a dip for the fries (light mayo, grainy mustard, lime, curry powder) as well as a salad.

The salad contained mixed spring greens, with dried figs, goat cheese, blackberries, and a raspberry walnut vinaigrette.

I made some chocolate brownies later this evening.

Chocolate Brownies
(Recipe from: Fine Cooking Magazine)

- Pre-heat oven to 325
- Line 9x13 pan with tin foil and spray
- Melt 3/4 cup unsalted butter (cut into 9 pieces) in a pot
- Once melted, remove from heat and whisk in 1 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
- Add 2 3/4 cups sugar and whisk
- Add 1/2 tsp salt and whisk
- Add 5 large eggs and whisk (2 first, then the last 3)
- Add 2 tsp pure vanilla extract and mix
- Stir in 1 2/3 cup of flour with a plastic spatula until just blended

Pour into pan and bake for 35 minutes.

I had half of the brownie pictured.
My sweet tooth was easily satisfied.

I go through phases with chocolate, but usually it owns my soul ;)

I am loving your salad- the combo of goat cheese and figs is amazing!

Oh- on your previous comment to me- you are more than welcome to fly out for some cilantro from my garden :)

Most of the time I only want chocolate if I see it. So if I see a dark chocolate bar I may want to buy it. Or, now that I see those yummy looking brownies, I want to make them. Fortunately, though, I already planned out my dessert for the evening so I don't have to worry about being tempted.

And your salad sounds amazing! I need to get more creative with salads.

of course i crave chocolate- like crAZY! i love chocolate protein bars or chocolate chip muffins the best! and chocolate mixed with vanilla froyo :P

im really bad at making brownies- i dont know why i can never make them right! i alwyas thought they would be simple to make. urs turned out the exact way i wish mine would- chewy and moist and really fresh looking. next time, not to self, follow Jolene's recipe (even if its not quite yours- we'll keep it a secret <3) hehe

I don't crave chocolate anymore. When I do it was Rocky Road ice cream or reese's PB cups.

Those brownies look delicious. I crave all sorts of chocolate, mainly in the form of candy or cookies. :)

Jolene! You are so fortunate that you can satisfy yourself with a couple bites of one brownie square! I would have half the pan gone before I felt satisfied...and nauseous.

boy, do I ever crave chocolate. I usually buy skim chocolate milk, or chocolate almond milk to satisfy my cravings but sometimes a girl just needs some brownies.

Your dinner looks great!

I crave chocolate very rarely, but usually it's like a candy bar or something. I do love me some Whoppers though. Mmm. Whoppers.

I love brownies but I suck at making them. They always come out too dry.

MMmmmm brownies. I have huge cravings for chocolate. I wish I didnt. I am amazed at how easily your sweet tooth is satisfied! My favorite chocolate treat is either a brownie or a piece of cake. The cake needs to have frosting of course ;)

Chocolate is my number one craving! Those brownies look great! I usually satisfy my craving with straight up chocolate. Either Godiva Milk Chocolate or Lindt Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt.
