I Feel Lost ...

Without my camera.

Since my camera got stolen on Tuesday I have felt completely lost.  Since August of 2009 my camera has pretty much been like another appendage to me. I have lugged it around with me everyday, snapping up to 200 photos a day (more on vacations).

My camera has become a part of me.  I spend time trying to get the perfect shot, styling my food, trying to make it look just right.  This morning I still grabbed a pretty bowl for my oatmeal, and I made it look picture perfect.  I have gotten so used to thinking about how I present my food, that I cannot not think about it.

Since I started my blog my photography has evolved and grown with me.

I have gone from this crap photography:

To something a little more visually appetizing:

I have learned how to have a photographer's eye, always watching for those perfect candid moments that are even better than I could have planned:

My camera is a part of me, and I miss it.

We just put in our claim with the insurance company today, but I can't wait for them to get it figured out.  This weekend I am going to get my new camera.

What would you be lost without?

I am so sorry about the break in - that's awful!! But let's think - you are okay, it's just stuff that can be replaced.

Hugs and hooray for loud alarms!

Oh my gosh!! Are you serious - is theft and breaking in a serious issue there?!! That's so scary. I'm always scared someone is going to break in...when I'm here.

I'm so happy that neither of you were hurt at least - please keep that the main focus. I love these photos - and I would still read without your camera girl :) Do you plan on getting a new one now? I had to before Xmas when I dropped my old one :(...I hear ya on deductibles too - had an "innocent" fender bender a few weeks ago - and had to pay $500 just like that. So sad...that's money for rent, bills - a trip!

I would be lost without my laptop. I had to go without it once when my cat dumped a vase of flowers on my old laptop. It was a sad time.

Oh dear. Oh no....Oh Jolene, I'm so sorry. I'm just catching up and I feel horrible for you...I'm glad the thief didn't steal anything else more precious though. I would totally feel lost without my camera too, or my Macbook, or cell phone.

(hugs) to you! Maybe it's time to get a better camera...treat yourself to one! you deserve it!

Baking and Books - no, theft and break ins are not a serious or common thing here ... just a random, back luck thing.

Yes, going to get a new camera this weekend.

I'm a bit of a camera nut, too, so while I'm sorry you no longer have your old one, I'm excited to hear about which one you decide to go with. I think I'd be lost without my purse and all the life crap that goes into it - if there was a fire I'd grab my kid, my dogs and my bag (assuming Mr. Gonzo can get himself out the door, if not, I'd grab him, too). Happy camera shopping!
