Out Like a Lamb

A

nd just like that, March is gone. 1/4 through the year already.

Kids started their spring break today, and mine officially starts Friday - 10 days off!! Did I mention that I love my job?

My breakfast today was a bowl of oatmeal (made with 1/2 cup coffee, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup quick oats, and topped with 1 T White Chocolate PB, 1 t unsweetened organic coconut, and 1 t maple flakes):

Lunch was a veggie burger, with some edamame and an orange:

I also had a couple bites of a cinnamon bun, and a sample or two at Costco. Gotta love Costco samples!! Are you like me ... do you go just for the samples? C'mon, admit it.

Dinner was bowl of hot and sour soup with tofu, and some potstickers:

This evening I trained for my 5k. I did the following:

5 minute warm-up walk
3 minute run
90 second walk
5 minute run
2.5 minute walk
3 minute run
90 second walk
5 minute run

I can't believe I ran for 5 minutes straight, when on Monday I struggled with 3!!! This program really works! I felt GREAT after. My legs felt amazing, and I felt so energized. It was not fun while I was doing it though. 5 minutes is probably the most I have ever run straight in my ENTIRE life. Crazy, I know. I could sprint, but never had much distance in me. I am hoping to change that. I have to change that. May 3oth is my 5k race.

Have you ever participated in a race? Would you ever want to?

Great work on the run!! You'll probably be surprised by how quickly you gain endurance!!

YEAH! Keep up with the running! And the hot and sour soup looks yummy. I think I might have to make some tomorrow.

You'll be running a 5K in NO time. Stick through it though, no matter how much you THINK it hurts (though if you're actually hurting, give yourself a rest!).

My first 5K is in 10 days!

Nice running! Sounds like the running program I was on 3 years ago. I ran the HM 3 years ago and the same day you do your 5k I will be doing the HM again. I think you'll finish faster :-)

I eat every single sample I can find at the grocery store. Free food is the best thing in the entire world.

I don't have a Costco membership, but I used to go to St. Lawrence market just for the samples back when i lived in Toronto.

Couch to 5k totally worked for me. I'm so glad I did it. My first 5k was last week and my husband and I are preparing for our next one at the end of April!

Well done on the running. A funny thing I've noticed is you are able to run whatever your program/or mind tells you you can. For instance I found days where my program said I needed to run 3 minutes I felt pushed to do that...then when it said 10, I felt I could just do that etc. It's funny how the mind works. I can usually run what I set out to run but run out of gas at whatever I have set my cut-off at...if you know what I mean. Weird.

I've done 10ks and will be doing the Half in June...am considering running a full marathon next year but that is literally miles away at the moment.

Have a good break!

I am thinking about doing the Cardiac Care 5K at the end of May, but not sure on whether the date will work for me or not. I would definitely consider doing one if others *ahem* were thinking about it.

Going to Costco on WW sucks...

Loving your job is such a blessing. That's awesome!

I love racing! And I don't really even like running all that much, lol. Racing is just so addicting and exciting.
