Kale Chips

L

ast night I tried kale "chips" for the first time!

These things are quite popular in the
blogosphere, believe it or not.

Kale "Chips"

- Rinse and dry kale leaves
- Spray with olive oil
- Bake for 15 minutes at 350 F
- Dip in ketchup

The texture was unexpectedly crunchy, and they made an annoying sound when I ate them (hubby was sure to inform me of this - hehe). The aftertaste was potato-chip like, but they have a different sort of flavour that is hard to explain.

I also had an organic grapefruit. So good.

Breakfast this morning was a bowl of Maple Walnut Oats (toppings included maple flakes, walnuts, and a spoonful of almond butter for extra protein).

I was at a Middle Years' Teacher's Conference this afternoon, and they gave us lunch. I had an egg salad sandwich.

There was no other food, and I was haaaaaaaaangry when I got home. I devoured a piece of cheese, a spoonful of PB, and these snap peas:

Dinner was one of the meals from the BIG Cook that I did a while back - Chicken Chow Mein.

I am going to grab myself a little fruit and veggie plate and then watch some TV with the hubby :-) I was hoping to start training for my 5k today, but the winds are BRUTAL. Hopefully tomorrow will be nicer, because I am eager to get my running shoes on!!!!!

I haven't tried kale yet although like you said it's everywhere in blogland. To answer your question on my blog here's what Wiki had to say :-)

A scroll saw is a small electric or pedal operated saw useful for cutting intricate curves where a jigsaw or coping saw is not appropriate; it is capable of creating curves with edges. It is somewhat similar to a band saw, but unlike band saws, in which the saw blade is a continuous loop, scroll saws use saw blades similar to those used by coping saws and operate through a quick reciprocating up and down motion.

i have tried kale chips, and they're not too bad... but i'm not the biggest fan of kale on its own (salad and things like that).

I made kale chips for the first time a week or so ago. I really liked them! Added a nice crunch to my meal!

I've never had kale, but I really want to try kale chips. Something keeps holding me back though.

I've never made the kale chips before. I've been putting kale in my green smoothies and sometimes I cook it with onions but I'm not a huge fan of the texture.

I've never tried kale chips. I imagine they just end up being salty and sweet from the ketchup. But I think you'd get that from roasting any veggie and dipping it in ketchup. I'll have to give them a shot. They are such a phenomenon!
I love your maple walnut oatmeal. Maple walnut is one of my favorite ice cream flavors so I bet this is delicious!

I don't really care for kale chips all that much, but I love kale in soups.

I have seen kale chips all over the blog world too but haven't tried them yet.

I really do like kale in green drinks and every other way I've cooked it (sauteed with garlic, lemon, pine nuts - chopped into curries or stirfrys - or pretty much any sauce) though so I must give these a try.

I made a batch of Kale Chips for the first time earlier this week. I tossed the kale in olive oil and sea salt and they turned out great, especially dipped in a bit of ketchup.
