Well folks, it can be done ...
Sushi Pizza
(Serves 2)
Ingredients
1/3 cup (approx) mayonnaise (depends how saucy you like pizza)
wasabi paste
2 T sesame oil
sushi rice (1 cup raw), cooked according to package, cool a bit
1 tsp rice vinegar
1 small package seaweed
1/4 lb approx. sashimi grade tuna (available at Pacific Fresh Fish)
2 T soy sauce
pickled ginger
sesame seeds (to garnish)
Mix the mayonnaise with wasabi paste until desired level of spiciness. Chop the sashimi into small pieces and marinate for a while in the soy sauce. Mix the rice vinegar into the cooked rice. Heat the sesame oil in a frying pan (we used a stone pan to get more crisp).
Dump the rice into the pan once the oil is hot, and use a spatula to try and form it into a nice round.
Cook for about 6 minutes (or until browned on one side). Hold a cutting board over the pan, and flip the rice out, then slide the rice back in to cook the other side. Form again if necessary.
Cook a few minutes on the other side, then remove from heat and start adding toppings. We served the pizza right in the stone pan, topping first with the wasabi mayo, then ginger, sashimi, seaweed, and sesame seeds.
Mmmmmmm! I drizzled a little soy sauce on my slices.
Have you ever had a strange idea for a recipe that worked out?
Or one that didn't?

This looks AMAZING!!
I could totally see how that would be super delicious. What an awesome idea!
I so admire how adventurous you are in the kitchen wow!!! I would never ever think to try that! Usually when I get ideas for 'new' or 'different' food ideas they do not work out:)At least not the first attempt.
That looks delicious and with the rice crust, it's a gluten free pizza alternative. You two sure are creative in the kitchen. Looks so so delicious!
