Recuperating and Dinner Party with New Friends

A

fter a busy Christmas, and a 2 day trip to Saskatoon to visit family, I am finally starting to catch up on sleep.  The holidays took a lot out of me this year, and I am physically drained.

We have been enjoying turkey dinner leftovers, and a few meals out with friends and family.

This evening we went to a dinner party at our new friends Emma and Dalton's house.  The hubby met this hilarious, friendly, and cute couple through his triathlon training, and I met them for the first time tonight.  They welcomed us, along with about 8 other people over to there home for a fabulous dinner party.

We started the evening with wine and appetizers:

The main course was a flavourful, healthy spread of delicious dishes:

I was in charge of dessert, and brought sopapilla cheesecake pie:

Before:

After:

I also ate one of these little cream cheese filled balls of wonder that another guest brought:

We had a wonderful evening with great food, and fabulous new friends!

Have you recovered from Christmas yet?  Are you still on a sugar high?

That pie looks sooooooo good!! I can't say that I've OD'd on the sugary foods but I have eaten way more chocolate than usual... and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. I have a mountain of it! I'm going to need to figure out a way to bake it all out of the house!!

I'm still recovering! I'm trying to blame it on changing time zones (Kansas is a whole one hour behind Philadelphia)...

Oh yum! Sounds delicious! Sounds like a delicious and fun dinner party.

I got sick over Christmas so am also recovering. I'm on the mend, though, but it's been a quiet week for me, and will likely be a quiet weekend!

Happy New Year!

You have the best parties. I want to come to one. You know, if we had friends we'd have parties too...maybe. One day!
I actually don't feel like I had enough Christmas sweets. I am still craving something, but not sure what. Maybe cheesecake? Or one of those cheesecake balls of wonder?

I was totally exhausted from all the christmas stuff that I crashed at 8 last night. The hubby had to carry me into bed. And I totally dont want sugar for at least a week!! My poor body is sick of it!

I'm thankfully not huge on sugar, so I'm not experiencing a high or low of sugar. :) With this week off, I've been lazying around the house, not eating as much/frequently during the day.

Still on a sugar high over here! What can I say? My mom put out Ghirardelli chocolates. LOL. I'm trying to stick to the 4 holiday food groups, except instead of gravy, I've been eating nuts. :) Enjoy the rest of your holidays!
