International Bacon Day

Saturday was Jolene Day International Bacon Day.

I grabbed this months Food Network magazine insert  (which was clearly made for me) and chose a recipe:

I went with the Bacon Fried Rice:

It was even better topped with Sriracha.

I had some family over for a hotdog roast on Sunday.

We had veggie skewers and Mediterranean potato salad on the side.

Dessert included burnt grapes and s'mores.

Needless to say, it was a great long-weekend.

When was the last time that you roasted a hotdog or a marshmallow?  How do you like 'em cooked?  Burnt?  Golden?  Exploding?

I like 'em both golden. It's been forever since I've roasted either one though!

I haven't roasted anything since I was 10 years old! Not I want a 'dog though - with ketchup, mustard and relish!...and a beer ;)

Thank you for your tremendous support. I haven't decided what I'm going to do...I'm just worried because I've wrote a lot of personal (nutty) things I know about my food issues, depression, etc. - and if anyone who actually knows me found out...it would be so weird :( I don't know. No pressure though. Maybe a new name, we'll see.

I actually just cooked both hot dogs and smores over a campfire a few weeks ago, for the first time in a loong time. It was so fun. I like my hot dogs on the burnt side, marshmellows not so much.

I roasted some about 2 weeks ago with my cousins (girls, age 3 and 5). I forgot how "horrific" it is for them to catch on fire, haha. The 3 of us all preferred them golden brown :-)

I am pretty upset that I missed this holiday. My boyfriend will be DEVASTATED that he missed this holiday. Or he'll just try to celebrate it extra hard, extra late :D Those burnt grapes look SO COOL!

What a fun weekend! I love my hot dogs and marshmallows real toasty! Probably closer to the burnt side of things!

bacon day! Um, can we say favorite holiday?

I need s'mores. I need to find gluten-free graham crackers.

Mmm.. bacon. :) That fried rice looks really yummy. I love how bacon can really enhance the flavor of dishes!! My fave is a bacon wrapped date. Mmm.. Delish.

I like my mashmallows golden-to-dark brown, and gooey in the middle. I found gluten free graham crackers at target, so I am all set to s'mores. :) Which I will have this weekend when I visit my friend Nora!
