The next morning we cleaned the house, and got prepped for the evening.
We were having a wine and cheese evening with a close group of friends we get together with quite often. Almost everyone in the group has had babies within the last two years, so grown-up evenings have become less common, and we thought it would be fun to get everyone together for a classy little evening, sans children. We sent out invites back in December.
We had fun choosing many different cheeses (I think 17) and accompaniments, and then plating/arranging everything.
There was food in the living room, dining area, and the kitchen.
I forgot to get pictures of the hot dips in the kitchen - oops! The dining table was full of goodies though ...
We had a fun evening catching up with pals, and snacking for hours. As usual, we had way too much food ... but it's always better to have too much rather than not enough.
How was your weekend? What did you do?

Wow that is A LOT of food! But I agree, better to have too much than not enough. That sounds like such a fun night. You totally had me sold at wine + cheese, nothing better than those two things!
Wow, that food looks amazing! I want to come to a party like that as I LOVE cheese! Have you tried pepper jelly with cheese yet? If not, you have to! It's the best flavor combination!!
My weekend was a fun one. We played cards with another couple, had a date night on Sat night and went to a new-to-us Latin restaurant which was really cute and sooo good, and then yesterday I brought coffee to a friend with a newborn (it was too cold for her to go out with the baby), went to yoga, and had 2 video chats with far away friends!
@ Lisa - Yes, hot pepper jelly, mmmm!! I had some on the table, along with honey, and mango chutney. I love spreading cream cheese into a dish, and pouring hot pepper jelly over that, and serving it with crackers. Such a great combo indeed!
Yum! I was already loving this and then I noticed that you had several varieties of blue cheese which put it over the top for me because blue cheese is the best. Re the hot pepper jelly: I don't know if they sell Mike's Hot Honey in Canada (or even the rest of the US yet), but you should pick some up on your next NYC trip. It's addicting and soooo good on cheese.
My weekend was fun as I tried 2 new recipes. We also went out one night to Nice Matin, which I think you may have visited on one of your trips. We hadn't been in awhile and it's one of our local neighborhood go-to spots. As usual Chris had the steak frite and I had the moules frite.
Cheese and wine indeed boost up any day. Your post is really enjoyable to read, love it, thanks for sharing
