To kick off no-spend November, we spent our entire Sunday afternoon in the kitchen.
We made a giant dough baby ...
And then made four different kinds of perogies - at least 10 dozen total!
We've had the idea for a while now, of doing fusion perogies with some of our favourite types of cuisines. We're both part Ukrainian, so we're very familiar with traditional potato and cheddar filled perogies, but we wanted to get a little creative with them.
We made some with an Indian samosa-style potato filling:
Korean perogies, with potato, gochujang and kimchi:
And gorgeous perogies with potato, beet, goat cheese and dill:
We also made some more traditional perogies, with potato, cheddar, onion and bacon:
In all the excitement, and mess of making a bunch of perogies, we also cooked up a ham dinner, with scalloped potatoes and peas.
We'll be enjoying the leftovers for a few days, and we're going to use the bone to make borscht soup.
How was your weekend?
Do you have anything fun planned for November?

YUM!
Oh I love the idea of having a no-spend November where you hibernate and relax before the craziness of December starts. I could totally get on board with that. Also all those perogies look AH-MA-ZING! I want to know how the beet + goat cheese + dill ones turned out!
Which perogie was your favourite? I still think of all the choices I would favour the beet one, though the Korean one looks really good too!
Yum! That all looks amazing! A no spend month sounds great. We should try to do that in January. I know it won't happen in November since we have a long weekend trip to Philadelphia/NJ for a friends wedding. I have been gone so much lately, and am gone again now as I am traveling for work so I have barely cooked. That needs to change when my travel slows down.
We had a fun weekend though as we had parties each night that were all really fun! My fave was our pumpkin carving party on Friday night!
@ Allysia - we actually haven't really tried them yet :-) We made them and froze them. We shared one perogie of each, but it wasn't enough to really get a feel for it. I think I might have liked the Korean one the best!! Although, they were all really good!
