After dinner we headed to the party. My sister had a couple snacks out, and made a yummy chocolate cake.
It didn't last long ...
The kids entertained the adults with their "skits" and we laughed a lot.
On Saturday morning Christopher made cloud eggs, bacon and potatoes for breakfast.
Breakfast sandwiches on Sunday:
The best thing we cooked all weekend was braised pork ramen. It was fantastic, and we'll be making it again. You can find the recipe in the current issue of Food Network Magazine.
You braise the pork in the oven for hours, while making a chicken/pork stock on the stove.
Then you strain the stock:
And add the braising liquid to the stock:
Then put cooked ramen noodles into a bowl, top them with the braised pork, and other desired toppings, then ladle the broth over the top.
The soft-boiled egg makes it extra delicious.
We also made some Super Bowl snacks this past weekend (but didn't watch the game, haha) - more on that in the next post.
I was writing this post last night, when my computer decided to restart on me, and then do updates for ever and ever. When I went to bed, it was at 3%. Ohhhh technology. At least Blogger auto-saved the post.
How was your weekend? Did you you do any cooking?
How is your week going so far?

I hate it when technology updates take FOREVER. Thank goodness your post was saved by blogger, though! That ramen dish looks and sounds amazing. I love warm and comforting meals like that in the winter!
We didn't do much cooking this weekend as I'm still trying to stay off my feet for extended periods of time. I did make a pot roast with carrots and potatoes in the instant pot on Sunday night and we ate that while watching the Superbowl game. It was really yummy and the leftovers have been so good!
I can't believe your nephew is 11 already! I started reading your blog when he was such a little guy! It's crazy how fast they grow up. My oldest nephew turned 13 this summer which just blew my mind.
What brand of bacon do you buy? I love a good thick cut bacon!
@ Dione - we usually buy the regular Maple Leaf bacon. Sometimes we buy the Kirkland brand stuff from Costco, but we had bad luck with it last time, and it was falling apart.
