Dream Home Day Dreams

We got up pretty early (for us) this morning and I started prepping dinner for tomorrow night while the hubby made vegan pancakes for breakfast.

For lunch I made whole wheat pizza crust which I topped with caramelized onions, bacon, fontina, romano and a balsamic glaze.  This was my first time making pizza crust, and I think it turned out rather well.

I basically followed this recipe, although I didn't use the red peppers.

While the pizza was baking I threw a small organic chicken and some veggies in a pot to make a stock for soup that I will finish tomorrow.

The hubby and I spent the afternoon looking at show homes, and fantasizing about our dream home.  Basically, I would want a BIG kitchen with a ridiculous island and a lot of counter space.  I am not a fan of islands with sinks in them, and that seems to be all that builders are doing these days.  I am convinced that we will have to design our next house ourselves, as none of the new houses in our city are practical.  Who needs 3 living rooms!?  Not us!

We love the house we are in now, but it is just a starter home.  Sometime in the next 5 years I would expect we will move into our next home.  Other things on my house wish list: laundry room on the same floor as the bedrooms, a lot of storage/closets/built in shelving, walk in closet (NOT off of the master bathroom), no wasted space, floor plan perfect for entertaining.

How about you - Are you in your "forever" home, or your "for now" home? What would you want in your dream home?
How was your weekend?  Did you do any cooking this weekend?

I am in my "for now" home, and I am with you....big kitchen, big island, no need for 3 living rooms (what the heck...who would use all of those) and storage, storage, storage.

Man, I have a hard time imagining buying a house right now! Living in a big east coast city means real estate is insane. Someday...

Ahh, house shopping. We've given up on our dream home for the next 10 years, at least. Prices are insanely high here, but to be honest we're not planning on staying in Saskatchewan much longer than 2 years anyway. And yeah, a spacious kitchen with tons of natural light is the dream - weird about the sinks being in the island. Your pizza crust looks lovely!

I'm pretty sure I'm in my "for now" home. I hope this market turns around someday so we can buy our dream home.

I don't know if I'll ever own a home. I like renting. But if I do it will probably just be a fancy condo. No house.

3 living rooms: one for entertainment, one for showing off, and the other for the pampered dogs. ;-)

I am currently renting, so I likely am not in my forever home... But if I could sell my condo that I am renting out (and eventually I know I will), I would love to buy the condo I am living in, or one like it. I just love it. It's very big and roomy (for me) and the location is perfect. The kitchen is small, but it works for me. I have room for a HUGE dining room table, so I can host my whole family. So I have no complaints. :)

You definitely need an open floor plan and space to entertain with all of the parties you throw! I'd love a huge walk-in closet too and an enormous bathtub that I can fill to the brim and surround with candles for R&R time. A big yard wouldn't hurt either...
