Secret Santa Gift

Thanks for all your sweet comments about my Christmas party!  I would really love to have you all over for a party - let me know when you are in town!  The pancake that looks like an apple/ peach/ strawberry was an accident, but the hubby told me he spent years perfecting his apple pancake making skills.
He is dorky like that.

Monday morning I needed some greens in my life after a weekend of party food.  I had a green monster for breakfast, and a toasted tomato sandwich and yogurt for lunch.  My dad took me out for supper to a restaurant called Peking House.  It has authentic Chinese food.  We had the dinner for two, and it was incredible.  We then went to the Casino for a Bee Gees and ABBA tribute.  The Bee Gee group was great, but the ABBA group made me not like ABBA anymore - hehe.  They were corny.

Breakfast this morning was 2 eggs with hot sauce, 1 slice of toast and OJ:

Lunch was perogies, a mini choc. chip muffin that someone brought to the staff room, and yogurt:

After work I came home to find 2 packages in the mail!!!  The Glo bars that I ordered arrived!
Check out the seasonal flavours:

I also got my Canadian Blogger Secret Santa gift!!!  Kris from iheartwellness sent me the BEST oven mitts I have ever seen!!  They are so "me."  Both my hubby and I thought that Kris did a pretty amazing job picking these out for me - and she doesn't even know me!!!  She put a lot of thought into these based on the few things she knew about me, and I am SO happy with them.  They were JUST what I needed ...

My old oven mitts were in great shape ...

I just love burning my hand as I take things from the oven to the counter.

RIP old oven mitts.  Welcome, new, much cooler oven mitts.

Thank-you Kris!  I could not have picked out a better set myself!

Dinner this evening (brought to my counter by new oven mitts) was curried chicken and Indian spiced potatoes.

What is something in your kitchen that needs replacing BADLY?

I want some glo bars! They are 17 dollars just for shipping though to get them to Texas, so I have never treated myself to some. I have tried them tho, and loved them!
Those oven mits are pretty amazing. I need new knives. Badly. Mine barely cut anything. But I am terrified of sharp knives. I am getting knves at culinary school, and they will be sharp. And I will have to use them. Uh Oh.

I wish I was better at picking gifts for people. I dread present shopping and it's looking like another Christmas Eve shopping trip for that reason :)

I need new dish towels... after having so many different roommates in college, all I've got left are odds and ends and none that match!

I've almost ordered GloBars, but the shipping costs have stopped me too. I think it worked out to over $4 per bar when I totaled it all up... eek. Pecan one sounds delicious though! You'll have to let us know!

Those are so cute! I just replaced my food processor, which was the main thing, but now I need some new towels. I spill SO much, so the ones I have are quite ratty, no matter how much I wash them!

And Kris is a doll!

Those oven mitts are adorable! I really need to replace my can opener. It's kind of ridiculous how long it takes me to get something open...

Ooh, I'm with Astrid. I could use a new all-purpose chef's knife.

I'm so jealous that you're done for the semester! I still have 2 exams left and have already written 8 since last Monday. At least I sound tough for having so many exams, right? lol

Yay for Glo bars! I've never had one, but I still know they must be amazing!

Love the secret santa gift! So thoughtful.

Almost everything in my kitchen could probably be replaced. It's all mostly cheap stuff I've had since college.

I desperately need a new blender. Last time I made a smoothie, mine actually started smoking! Seriously, I thought I was going to set the house on fire. Mine is really old. Hopefully, Santa will be good to me. :)
