Chili Lime Butter
1 clove garlic
1 tsp chili powder
Juice and zest of 1 lime
1/4 cup butter (softened)
Pepper
Process all in food processor until smooth.
I have made chili lime butters before, but this one takes the cake.
Thanks to everyone who gave the tips about sleep the other day. I was totally getting too much sleep, and it sounds like a lot of you have experienced the same thing. This morning I got up at 7:45, and I felt refreshed and fabulous!
I started my morning with an apple and green tea. About an hour later I had a couple whole wheat pancakes with real maple syrup:
I then tackled the spice cupboard!
Anyone have ideas for neatly organizing spices and herbs, etc.?
Lunch today was 2 slices of veggie pizza. On my last pizza picture many people commented on the crazy amount of olives - yeah I am obsessed with green olives on pizza! The pizza comes with them on, but I add more:
I remember when I used to HATE olives. I purposely tried to acquire a taste for them, and it worked. A little too well perhaps...
Dinner featured the chili lime butter:
Grilled salmon (seasoned with salt, pepper, and olive oil), with a dollop of the butter on top. I also stirred a little bit into the mashed sweet potatoes:
Have you ever purposely tried to acquire a taste for a food? Which food? How long did it take? Is there something that you don't like now, but you wish you liked? What is a food that you hated as a child but love now?

You wanna come tackle my spice cupboard?! ;D
I used to not like plain yogurt. I didn't HATE it, I just didn't like it nearly as much as flavored kinds. But when I decided to limit my consumption of added sugars, I started eating only plain yogurts sweetened with fresh fruit. Now I absolutely love it!
I have been trying to like tomatoes and mushrooms for awhile now.. and it's still not working. Tomatoes I've built up a bit of a liking too.. I can have a few small chunks in something, but that's it. Mushrooms.. not at all.
we have the same coffee pot :) We put all our spices in a little spice rack - however we've quickly outgrown that and the rest sit in a little cabinet :)
My husband was a huge olive-hater until six months ago. Now he eats them like they're going out of style.
I always hated fish growing up and I tried really hard to like it. Now I do but only six years ago my mom was paying me $20 to try calamari.
Oh man..you know I'm an olive girl..I love anything salty on pizza..extra black and green olives and extra bacon, for me! :D
I think the Chili Lime butter would rock on an ear of grilled corn!
i use to hate almond butter but I somehow started LOVING the nutty flavor...I think it's cause I tried it WITH different foods and finally found it was awesome with oats! BTW I love olives..I didn't when I was younger though! I like to think our tastebuds evolve as we age.
I'm horrible at coming up with ways to organize things-I need to get better at it! I tried so hard to like tomatoes, and after a few months on weight watchers, my taste buds caught up!
I have one of those tiered stands for my spices, but it's still not ideal. I wish I liked avocados but I have never been able to stomach them. When I was a kid I thought I hated sweet potatoes b/c the only way I ever tried them was that casserole with the marshmallows.
Mmm that butter sounds so good!! I used to HATE blueberries. I thught they were sour and much too tart for me. But I kept trying them and now, I love them. I always have 2 containers at least in my fridge :)
I used to hate ALL nuts. I thought they tasted like air and were dry. Now I love 'em.

Ohh you should get a spice rack!! they also have magnetic boards you can buy to put on your wall, and magnetic spice jars.. so you can just stick them on your wall! My cousin has one.. i personally think its genius
Growing up I hated oatmeal...but then I kept thinking I need to try this again, I'm sure I'll like it...and I did!
I organized my spice rack months ago and blogged about it as well...I got some mini shelfs to put in there, so I can now see everything..oh, and threw a ton of old spices away!
I love all the olives on the pizza! I used to hate them too, but now I can't get enough.
I've always tried to like fish because it's brain food. I've gotten better but it's still not my favorite.
Chili lime butter? Yes, please! YUM! I have no suggestions about the spice cupboard...mines always a mess. I put the spices that I use the most towards the front and the ones I use less often in the back or on a higher shelf because otherwise they are just in the way!
I have never liked mushrooms or eggplant and I have tried so hard to like both!
thats such a hard job, the spice cupboard! i have a lot of bulk bagged spices that i always have to pour into little jars and i make such a mess, so stressful lol.
pancakes!!! i always feel like a little kid when i see ppl post pancakes, makes me so excited!
xoxo
Oh my gosh I love olives on pizza! They've always been my favorite topping. For a while I loved them with sausage, but alas, no more meat, so I overdose on olives to make up for it ;)
Beer is one thing I've never had a taste for. My theory is if it looks/smells/tastes like pee, you probably shouldn't be drinking it. I have finally started trying sips of brews when my friends order them and I finally found exactly one brand that I like - Land Shark. It's not my drink of choice, but on a beer kind of night, it's good to know I can actually stomach one!
I TRIED super hard to like papaya ever since I was a kid...but it still makes me gag! I don't know why!
BTW awesome spice collection! The best investment I made to keeping my spices in order was to buy a rotating spice rack...super convenient, and it's takes away all the rummaging trying to find the cinnamon! ;)

I've tried to acquire a taste for yogurt and cottage cheese as I'd always heard they were good foods for helping in my weight loss.
I learned to love yogurt but hate cottage cheese still and have given up trying to like it.
