Running Plan

Thanks to everyone for the comments and suggestions about my running - I REALLY appreciate it!! I read each over at least 2 times, and have taken this away from what I read:

- The pain on my side is a side stitch, and it could be from not drinking enough water (I don't), or eating too soon before I run (I do). Plan: Drink more water throughout the day, and wait at least 1 hour after eating before running.

- Running in the morning would be better, because I am on my feet all day at work. Plan: This is not going to happen until the summer, because on a work day I just can't get out of bed any earlier than I already do :-)

- Run with music. Plan: I usually run with my hubby and therefore have not been running with music, but I think I need to absolutely try running with tunes. I will do this on my next run.

- Slow down. Plan: I am going to try to slow down on my next run.

- Try other cardio to build endurance. Plan: Anyone want to go dancing? ;-)

- Do something you love. Plan: I am going to do the 5K on May 30th, and then reassess if running is for me. If not, I will choose another form of cardio to not lose the progress I have made.

Last night I tried a green smoothie that a friend from work recommended! (She has been drinking Green Monsters lately too - a convert!!!!!)

(1 1/2 cups almond breeze, 1 banana, 1 avocado, 1 T almond butter).

This was really good! The texture was like silk. It was VERY filling so I only had half.

Breakfast this morning was coconut crusted French toast with a glass of OJ:

Lunch was leftover Mexican bake again, with 1/2 cup yogurt, 2 T granola, and 1 orange (repetitive, so no pic).

After work I snacked on some edamame and a piece of cheese:

Dinner was whole wheat spaghetti (3/4 cup) with chicken meatballs in tomato sauce:

What is your favourite food?

Mine would probably be pasta!!!!

My favorite food is anything Asian (duh! look at me)...especially pad thai..but I don't treat myself to that often cause I can eat the wholeee plate!!! Gluck with running! Everyone's tips sound good! I'm too scared/chicken/shy to still do one!

Great planning! Definitely don't run if you don't love it. There are so many kinds of exercise out there!

Sounds like you got a great running plan!

I noticed that you eat a ton of coconut. Is there a reason or do you just love it?

My favourite food is a good spicy butter chicken! I wonder if I could make a low-fat version of it. I think I'm going to try this weekend. You inspired me!

slowing down is a great training idea. when u cut ur pace down and force urself to run slower.. u build endurance so that the next time u run u can run further and faster. its a smart idea!

When I was going C25K last year, I listened to these. http://www.djsteveboy.com/1day25k.html

They're techno music tracks specifically designed for this program. They tell you when to start walking or running again. I don't like techno much, but it helped me because I no longer had to constantly watch the clock. I could just focus on my form, breathing, etc, until it told me to change things up. Just something that may help.

And favorite food is probably thai yellow curry. Heaven on a plate.

I get side stiches occasionally, and I've heard they are from dehydration. I'm not sure how much I believe that b/c I'm usually hydrated when I run. I'm interested to see how yours improve with the addition of water and not eating too close to exercise time!
