Mosaic Weekend

Mosaic: A Festival of Cultures, is an event that takes place in our city every year.  There are different cultural pavilions, each serving up traditional food alongside entertainment.  On Thursday evening we met up with a bunch of friends at the Philippine pavilion, and then walked over to the Kyiv Ukrainian, and the Greek pavilions before calling it a night.

Christopher and I shared noodles and a BBQ pork skewer, a steamed bun, six perogies (a pickled egg and pickled herring for him), and one dessert for our dinner that evening:

On Friday after work we all met up at the Poltava Ukrainian pavilion to start our evening.  We were hunnnnnngry, and ordered a plate of food to share and a cookie.

We enjoyed the entertainment (of both the Ukrainian dancers, and our friends' kids who are too cute, and very lovable), before moving on to the Italian club.

After sharing a piece of pizza and some tiramisu, we were getting pretty full, so we didn't eat anything when we got to the Indian pavilion.

The last place we went was the German club, and that was pretty late, so we shared a snack before heading home.

On Saturday morning I made an oatmeal breakfast, and then we got a couple of errands done before meeting up with our friends and their kids to hit some afternoon pavilions.

We made it to the African, Korean and Scottish, and shared a few dishes for lunch:

Our pals got babysitters for the evening so we met up at our place before the adults headed out to the Austrian, Serbian, Caribbean, Hungarian and German (again) pavilions.

For dinner we shared a few tasty Austrian dishes:

Caribbean jerk chicken with corn bread (we ordered one, but they gave us another helping of this, so we ended up having two of these little plates):

And one bratwurst at the German pavilion to end off the weekend of culture hopping:

We had so much fun out with friends, and were home very late.  After sleeping in the next morning Christopher made breakfast, and we mostly just lounged around all of Sunday.

How was your weekend?  How is your week going so far?
Do you have a cultural festival like this in your city?

Wow! This sounds amazing! To my knowledge, we don’t have something like this in Minneapolis. If we did, I would definitely check it out! I love trying foods from different regions! Sounds like such a fun weekend!!
