This evening my family came over for Christmas dinner.
We enjoyed turkey etc. and then opened gifts and had dessert. As usual, my nephew Giovanni scored big time in the gift department :-)
He is such a sweetheart, and the most polite little guy. I am looking forward to spending a day with him while I'm off on holidays.
I'm now looking forward to a relaxing few days, as we visit, eat and drink with Chris' family and then spend boxing day doing absolutely nothing.
Are you cooking Christmas dinner? How do you split time between the families if you've got a significant other?

Christmas dinner will be with my parents tomorrow. My mom always makes sweet and sour meatballs - yum! We celebrated with my husband's family on Saturday, as we're making our annual migration south to Arizona (my parents buy us flights as part of our Christmas presents) for a couple of weeks.
That cabbage roll looks really good...
Since we live 1,000 km away from our families WE are usually the ones to fly home and then spend Christmas Eve with Eric's family and Christmas Day with mine. However this year we are staying home and his family is coming to us (arriving sometime today!) and we're doing a big turkey dinner on Christmas eve and then a big breakfast/brunch on Christmas Day! I'm going home for a week after the holidays but this will be the first Christmas ever away from my family which in some ways feels weird but in other ways it's really nice to be in our own home!
Merry Christmas!
I think it's awesome that you did up a Christmas meal for your family - I always want to do something like that, but it never seems to work out. Time splitting is always slightly awkward - we've been hanging out with Mike's family since the 23rd, and then in the afternoon on the 25th we're hanging out with my family, and then back to his family for the 26th. Whew!
Yum! Your Christmas dinner looks awesome!
My boyfriend and I haven't been dating for all that long so we just spent the holidays with our own families. Maybe next year we will have to figure out how to split them up!
Splitting holidays is really hard for me, since my family lives far away and his family lives really close to us, but we've pretty much decided to split Thanksgiving and Christmas each year, switching back and forth. As much as I hate it, it's really the more economical solution. Flying out to Oklahoma two months in a row adds up fast.
