Saturday Night In

Last night we had our friends Dalton and Emma over for dinner.  We prepared dishes that we have made a few times before, and everything turned out well.

We started with pico de gallo and guacamole.

Next we had beer battered coconut shrimp.

The next course was a black bean chipotle soup, with sour cream, lime and cilantro garnishes.

Our entree was poblano pepper crepes with Mexican rice on the side.

I am always very indecisive when it comes to dessert, because I am not a big dessert person, and I always fret about what people will like ... so I made 3 desserts.

Vanilla Bean Chocolate Pear Crumble a la Mode

Oreo Filled Double Chocolate Cookies

Pumpkin Gingerbread with Spiced Butter cream

They must have been hits, because by the end of the evening there were no cookies left, no pear crumble left, and only half a loaf ... and I only had a few bites of the crumble!  Success!

You can find the recipes here, here and here.

Are you indecisive when you cook for other people?
How do you plan the meal when you have others over; do you stick to a theme?

What a great dinner! I like to stick to themes when I have people over, it's more fun!
Three desserts is impressive and I'm not surprised they're almost all gone!

You did a great job!! I like everything on the menu! You always have such fun ideas for food. I will be hosting a family party in July.....30 people in my house...yikes. We do have a big back yard, so I pray for good weather! I am starting to plan for it now......lots to do:)

I think the hardest part for me is finding dishes that compliment each other well. Themes definitely help with that though!

Oh yum! I am always super impressed with the meals you serve for your guests! Well done, you. You are such a fabulous host!

I tend to pick a theme and stick to that when i am having guests over. I tend to make mexican food because it's easy to make it gluten free and not have people tell the difference!

I never really cook for people, but if I did I'm sure I'd be really indecisive :)
Everything looks great!

You are such an amazing dinner party thrower. You seriously amaze me! I'm so indecisive when I cook for other people. I'd rather them tell me what they want because I can't take the stress! lol
