Dinner Party Re-Cap and Family

Sorry I haven't blogged in a couple of days. The hubby and I got a phone call Saturday morning informing us that my Mom (who has MS and lives 2 hours away) had been taken to the hospital. She had a fever, and was incoherent late Friday night. We immediately packed a bag and headed for Saskatoon. She was back to her usual self Saturday when we arrived - thank God. The doctors believe that she has pneumonia (even though she is not experiencing the usual symptoms). They will be keeping her in the hospital for the next few days at least, to run more tests, and have her meet with a neurologist about her MS. We stayed over in Saskatoon last night, and returned home this evening. I don't know if you have ever known someone with MS, but it is a very horrible, debilitating disease. There are 3 types, and my Mom has the worst type - Primary Progressive (she progressively gets worse, with no remittance). It is very hard to watch her go through it, and I just want to let everyone know what is going on in case I am away again. Please keep her in your prayers.

Friday Re-Cap

Breakfast was eggs and a glo-bar:

Lunch was an Amy's Burrito, Mocha Yogurt, and 2 mini oranges:

For dinner the hubby and I went to a dinner party at our friends Jeff and Alaina's place. We had 2 delicious appetizers. One was a flaky pastry that featured sun dried tomatoes.

The other was grilled prawns.

The next course was a mushroom soup with a lovely cheese decoration on top.
It was superb.

The main course was roast beef, sweet potatoes with a lovely dip, and vegetable skewers.

I enjoyed all the great food with plenty of red wine!

Dessert was a homemade ice-cream (none of my pics turned out :-( ) with one of these pretty cake like things that I don't know the name of!

The whole meal was wonderfully prepared and presented, and I enjoyed every bite!
It is always fun to enjoy a great meal with great friends!

Saturday Re-Cap

The next morning we got the call about my Mom and I quickly downed a Green Monster, grabbed a glo-bar and headed out the door.

We ate lunch in Saskatoon, but I could only eat a few bites of my pasta. I was feeling dizzy. My vertigo still hasn't gone away completely (it has been over a week now).

We ate dinner in the mall. I had a beef and rice dish from Edo Japan.

This morning we had breakfast in our hotel. I had 1/2 of this western Benedict.
It wasn't good.

Lunch was a chicken and veggie pita:

We drove home this evening and went to the hubby's parent's place for dinner. We had cream chicken with rice.

Do you know anyone with Multiple Sclerosis?

It is very common in my province. I know many people who's parent's or family members have it. I don't know anyone besides my Mom who has the primary progressive diagnosis however.

Sorry to hear about your mom. Hopefully she's better soon. I don't know anyone with MS but it's always sounded bad when I hear about what it is.

Hey girl! I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. My best friend's mom is an MS specialist medical researcher. I really hope they find something soon.

Hope you are hanging in there!

Those cookies are French cookies called madeleines, I just baked a batch this morning. Especially good dipped in coffee!

Good luck with your mom!

I never knew your mom was that sick. MS is seriously such an emotional and physically painful disease. I hope your mom is feeling a bit better. My friend who's 24 was diagnosed a year or so ago. I also have multiple people who come to my pharmacy who have the disease. :( Your family INCLUDING you are in my prayers.

So sorry to hear about your mom - I know that watching someone go through MS is such a helpless feeling at time. I'm glad to hear she's stable now!...

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. :( My dad's best friend passed away a few years ago from MS. I wasn't very close to him, but seeing how hard it was on my dad I can only imagine what you're going through. *big giant internet hugs*

I'm really sorry about your mom. A man at our church has MS, but I dont know what kind. He is in and out of the hospital a lot, but he can still walk but not well. I cant imagine what its like for you...my grandpa had parkinsons which is another debilitating disease. It was hard because he knew he was shaking, and he would try and hold his hands together tightly so they wouldnt shake, only to have his legs start shaking instead.
Its tough to watch a loved one go through something like that.
Just hang in there and keep the faith

Oh man, MS is awful. I know how tough it is to watch your mom go through health problems and feel totally helpless. My mom passed away 4 years ago from cancer.
It's great that she has you around. A support system is so important.

Also, I'm pretty sure those scallop-shaped cookies are madeleines!

Hope your mom does better. I know progressive diseases can be quite a battle for the person and for the caregivers.

It must be so worrying and hard for you to have to watch your mother suffer with this horrible disease. I don't know anyone personally who has MS, but a friend's mum has it.
I'd like to write something like 'I hope she gets better soon' or 'I hope things ease up for you both', but as it's progressive, I suppose that's kinda pointless... Either way, I do wish that neither your mum or you had to deal with this horrible disease. *HUG*

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. My mother is in a similar position and I know scary and heartbreaking it is to watch someone you love so much go through that.

You and your family will be in my prayers.

Sorry to hear about your Mom! My MIL has MS, but she has the mildest form - but she still struggles with long walks and stairs - she keeps her chin up though and doesn't complain at all!

Those grilled shrimp look amazing!!

I hope your mom gets better promptly! I'm not going through the exact same thing ,but something similar... While I don't know anyone with MS, my sister has cystic fibrosis and it's definitely hard on everyone involved...

Hang in there! *hugs*
