Smoothie for a Frigid Day

Yes, I drink smoothies when it is -40 outside. Need to get those greens in!!!

I started my morning with a Green Monster (1 banana, 1 cup milk, 1 pack wheat grass, 1 T almond butter, 1 scoop chia seeds).

Lunch was leftover ham and perogies.

Sorry for the repeats lately - the hubby and I are avoiding buying groceries for 2 reasons:

1) It is too damn cold

2) We are so busy with dinners/ parties this Christmas season, and don't want to buy a lot of food that is going to go to waste. We are trying to eat up what is in our freezer and cupboards. You will see more interesting eats in the New Year!

After work the hubby and I shared a little snack of ham and cheese :-)

We had spinach pizza for dinner:

After dinner we each went our separate ways to Christmas shop. I had NO luck! This is the hardest time I have ever had with Christmas shopping and I think it is because this is the latest I have ever started.

I got all my Christmas cards addressed, written, and ready to send out when I got home from shopping. I will mail about 35 tomorrow!

My snack this evening was a smoothie with 1/2 a banana, frozen mixed berries, amazing grass, and almond butter.

Are you done your Christmas shopping?

How many people do you have to buy for?

Totally random, but I LOVE your water bottle!! Is it a Sigg one? Anyways it's beautiful :)

There are times when I definitely avoid getting groceries, mostly when I'm super busy with school work and I reason that stepping outside to get groceries will be a waste of time ;)

I just stumbled upon your blog and love your food photography!

I haven't started Christmas shopping yet.. I know, so bad. I'm only getting things for my close family (parents and sister) and I'm surprising my boyfriend with a weekend full of fun stuff. The rest of the family gets homemade cookies.

Can't wait to continue reading ;).

Halfway through with shopping. Geoff's birthday is also Saturday so it makes it uber difficult to find something!

LOVE perogies!

I started Christmas shopping late myself!! :s Fortunately, I've been able to do a lot of it online and I knew what to get everyone (and that helps a ton)! ; )

I'm right there with you on reason number one. We put off grocery shopping too but we just moved to Lloydminster so the fridge and freezer are empty.

When it was -60 with the wind chill over the weekend I let hubby order pizza for delivery. Also learned that frostnip is a mild form of frostbite and a good reason to stay indoors.

As long as you don't run out of Green Monsters you shouldn't need to shop for a while, ehh? :p

oh yum, your pizza always looks so good!

As far as the guest posting goes, this is my first time receiving them. However, when I wrote a post for someone else, I just emailed them everything and I think they copied and pasted it into the blog and just kept it ready until they wanted to post it...so that's how I'm planning to do it and we'll see how things go! So I'm having them submit the post to me before I leave so I'll have time to get things ready!

i already got my parents stuff so i only had to shop for about 5 people more. I do alot of shopping online to avoid the crowds and to make sure I get the best deals. If it's not too late you might wanna try that. :) Good job on cleaning out your cupboards and fridge...I need to work on that. :(

I agree with you. it is too damn cold to go out in that weather! Stay in..and eat the contents of your pantry! :)

That spinach pizza looks soooo good.

eeee...I'm doing the bulk of my christmas shopping this weekend. The mall is going to be scary but at least I know what I want.

I buy for my mom, dad, brother, boyfriend, a few coworkers and my grandpa(s) :)

So far out of that list only my dad and co workers are complete lol..

Haha...I still drink smoothies when it's cold out too!

Although I have to admit, that pizza looks better than any smoothie! :-)

I admire you for drinking the green monster when it's so darn cold out! I wish I could do that. I'm almost done Christmas shopping. I only have my brother and sister-in-law left to buy for.

I always crave cold things when it's chilly outside. I have such a hard time trying to get other people to drink smoothies or eat ice cream with me. Glad to see I'm not the only one!

We're poor this year so I'm making ornaments for everyone. It's been kind of fun to be all craft like and not worry about spending money we don't have.

These kitchen renos are totally putting us in the same boat as you. We have no groceries other than Lean Cuisine because I have no space to cook until tomorrow when we get our countertops installed. We are WAY behind on our Christmas shopping because every weekend Jeff is doing work on the kitchen. I am starting to get really worried!
