Lobster Hot Tub

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I had a fabulous weekend, which started with a delicious Friday evening.

After a trip to the local fresh fish shop, Christopher and I cooked up some live lobsters for the first time.

They were 1/5 lbs a piece, both males.  The guy at the shop directed us to bring a pot of water to a boil, salt it quite heavily (so that a raw egg would float), toss the lobsters in and bring it back to a boil.  Once the water was at a boil again we set the timer for 14 minutes.

Lobster Hot Tub
 (32 sec.)

For your viewing pleasure (they didn't squeal or scream as we expected):

We enjoyed baked potatoes, salad and bread with our lobstas.

I used a small fondue pot to keep the garlic butter melty and delicious for dipping purposes - mmmmm!

This was just the beginning of a tasty, tasty weekend.

Have you ever cooked lobster?
How was your Thanksgiving?

I have only had lobster once. I was in Colorado, and my friend's uncle had some flown in from Maine. They were SO good, but kind of a lot of work to get all the meat out! I am glad you had a yummy thanksgiving! Ours is just over a month away and I can't wait!!

Oh my gosh! I was scared to watch the video because I thought they would scream for sure when Christopher put them into the water (despite your disclaimer that they didnt!). I don't think I could do that...I prefer my lobster to come prepared for me on a plate:)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

So... they're alive when you put them in the water? I always thought they had already 'passed on' before they went in the water... that's so sad! ;D

very impressive dinner :)

I have never cooked lobster before! But I love to eat it! Happy (belated) Thanksgiving. Also, I love that your lobsters got to go in a "hot tub" - too funny!

I just showed my husband this post and he wants to know why I don't cook lobster more often! You've inspired me! This looks delicious!

Happy Thanksgiving!
