November 1st Already!!!

My little nephew came by last night to trick or treat :-) He was dressed as Venom! So cute! He will be 3 in February, and he is SUCH a little boy. Apparently he was flexing his big muscles in the mirror at home!! I love this little guy SO SO much!

Last night while handing out candy, I snacked on one of these:

And a small handful of yogurt covered raisins:

We went to our friends house later on last night, and I had some drinks (vodka and water, and a couple shots), and about 10 chips throughout the night.

This morning I slept in later than I have in years. Lunch was a Green Monster made with 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond breeze, 1 banana, 1 scoop amazing grass, 1 T peanut butter:

I also had some Mary's Crackers with herb and garlic cream cheese:

Dinner was 2 slices of meatloaf, topped with ketchup, and some Anne's Mac and Cheese:

I also had a couple glasses of milk, which is weird for me because I never really drink milk .. but I was craving it, so I guess that means by body needed calcium or something!

I choose not to drink milk most of the time, as I don't know how healthy it is, and I think that the human (adult) body has trouble digesting it. I have done loads of research about milk, and the majority of what I have read says that milk is not good for adults, particularly because it can scar the arteries, and because of the hormones/ antibiotics given to cows. But - since I was craving it today, I figured why not. Typically I think that if your body is craving a food/ drink, that food/ drink has something in it that your body needs. I listen to my cravings for this reason.

Do you drink milk?

Meet my friends this morning ...

I am taking a HEALTH day (aka a sick day), but I prefer to focus on the fact that I am trying to restore my good health.

Last night before bed I had an apple:

Some Mary's Organic Rice crackers with light herb and garlic cream cheese:

And a Hot Toddie ... recommended to me by Maggie from TheSaladGirl. Her dad is one smart man, because this definitely soothed my throat for a while! I didn't have any lemon, but I mixed hot water, honey, cinnamon sticks, and cloves and drank it down. Tasty, and effective!

This morning I slept in until about 10:00, then I got up and made a Green Monster of course. In addition to 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 3 handfuls of spinach and 1 banana, I added:

1 T of Peanut Butter:

And 1 package of wheat grass:

I drank it from a Heineken glass:

The good thing is, I still have my appetite. And I don't have a fever.
This makes me almost certain that I just have a cold.
I have a headache, sore throat (not as bad anymore) and stuffy/ runny nose, with a general tired feeling all over. With this whole H1N1 thing, people are very adamant that if you are SICK, stay HOME. So that is what I am doing.

No matter what I do (eat healthy, eat plenty of fruits and veggies, exercise etc) I still get a cold or two each winter, and usually the flu once. It must be because I am around so many germs all day at work ... I can't figure it out. Do you get a cold every year?

Wednesday's Eats and Running Hiatus

This morning I woke up craving a toasted tomato sandwich for breakfast.
Again today, I wasn't very hungry - but I knew I needed something to keep me satisfied until lunch.

Unfortunately this sandwich didn't cut it, and I was ready to gnaw my arm off by about 9:15. Lovely. Too bad I forgot to bring a snack to work.

Lunch today was a quick "Mr. Sub" meal (like Subway for all the American readers!) I had:
  • Small multi-grain grilled chicken sub with lettuce, tomato, green and black olives, mushrooms, banana peppers, and buffalo sauce
  • 1/2 a small bowl of broccoli cheddar soup (it was greasy and nasty so I tossed it pretty quickly)
Dinner was some turkey noodle soup, a pear, and some Mary's organic crackers with light herb and garlic cream cheese.

My snack tonight was a packet of Amazing Grass's Chocolate GREEN Superfood mixed with 1/2 cup source vanilla yogurt, 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond breeze, and a banana:

Mmmm, Slime.

You may have noticed that I have not been talking about my running much in the last few weeks. I have NOT given up ... but I have had to take a short hiatus due to the crap weather in Saskatchewan. We have had rain, ice, snow, cold - you name it. The hubby and I are currently looking for a gym with a track that we can join so that I can continue to train. I hope to get back at it ASAP so that I don't lose any progress I have made.

I am off to enjoy the a few minutes of relaxation in front of the TV with the hubby!

Today is my last day of being a 26 year old - Eeeeeeek!
See you all tomorrow for my B-Day and a special dinner out with the hubby!
The real celebration (with friends) will be Saturday night!

How do you celebrate your b-day?

Turkey Dinner #2

I had full intentions of taking pictures of turkey dinner #2 at my Dad's place ...
I left the house and drove 1/4 of the way there, when I realized I forgot my camera card at home. The hubby turned around and drove home so we could grab it.

We went to my Dad's and enjoyed a wonderful turkey dinner ... and after I inhaled it, I realized - oops ... I forgot to take a pic. I guess it just wasn't meant to be this evening.

I ate:

- 3 Slices of white meat
- about 1/2 cup of potatoes
- 1/4 cup turnips
- 1/4 cup broccoli
- 1/4 cup stuffing
- 3 T corn
- An obscene amount of gravy :-)

I passed on dessert again, but ended up being a little hungry later on this evening. While watching America's Next Top Model I ate this:

(1 piece of old cheddar cheese, 5 Mary's crackers with a bit of light herb and garlic cream cheese, and an unsweetened apple sauce).

Also, I just want to let everyone know that Jocelyn from the blog JocelynEatsFresh is having a wonderful giveaway! Checkout her blog for the details!

I have no idea why, because I didn't work that hard today - but I am wiped. I can barely see straight. So with that ... g'nite peeps.

Brunch with Friends

Before I forget ... last night I had a snack. I had a mini baby bell cheese and 5 crackers:

This morning I got up and got brunch ready. Our friends are in town from Calgary for thanksgiving so we invited them for brunch today. I ate a small Glo Bar while getting brunch ready, since I was up at 9:00 and we weren't eating until 11:00.

I set the table, and started putting the spread out:

Strawberries for the whole wheat waffles:

Fruit for the chocolate fondue dessert:

We made whole wheat Belgium waffles with strawberries and fresh whipped cream, bacon (duh), and mini frittatas.

I had half a waffle with strawberries/ whip cream:

And 3 mini fritattas (I went back for one more after this helping):

And about 10, 000 pieces of bacon (I took 3 to start):

Altogether now:

Our lovely friends showed up with a bottle of Champagne and some POM wonderful :-) No wonder we like these people! We made mimosas obviously.

And because it was 5:00 somewhere, I decided heck ... why not have an orange mimosa as well:

I chased it with coffee.

We finished our brunch the only logical way - with chocolate fondue.

This wonderful meal kept me stuffed all day. I spent the afternoon having tea with my dad, going to some show homes with him, and then my dad took me out for supper to Korea House where I had Bee Bim Bop (hot stone - sorry no pic - but it is the same as what I had about a week ago).

I was going to do homework tonight ...
but homework makes me want to vomit so I decided not to.
