Taking a Break ... Now and Then.

The last couple weeks have been pretty crazy.  I have read over 100 articles just this week, and have had very little time to cook and clean, let alone have fun.  I basically come home from work, do research, eat, and then do more research.

I have been fueling up on veggies to get a bunch of vitamins and help keep me from getting run down.  My latest favourite snack has been a giant bowl of brussels sprouts.  I have also been juicing:

On Thursday I took 1/2 hour to make risotto to go with the turkey sausage that the hubby made:

Also, I was very thankful that the generous people at One Earth sent me some Quinoa Crunch Chocolate Square Mix, that allowed me to bake something in 5 minutes.
All I needed to add was eggs, butter and oil.

I went out last night for the first time in a couple weeks.  After a long day of a thesis seminar, and making notes, I needed a break.  We decided at the last minute to dress up and head to our friends' Halloween party for a couple hours.  We only went out from about 8:30-11:00, but it was nice to step away from papers and my computer for a while.

I dressed up as Minnie :-)

Did you go out this weekend to celebrate Halloween?
Are you handing out candy on Halloween, taking someone trick or treating, dressing up, going out, or none of the above?

Enjoy your Sunday peeps!
I will be writing all day, and praying that it goes smoothly.

Oh my gosh, your costume is adorable!!!

100 ARTICLES IN A WEEK? Good God, that is insane. My gosh it will be great to have this thesis writing behind you. I am extra extra thankful I did not have to do a thesis for my masters (does this make me lazy??).

Good luck, lady!!

Ahh, I don't envy your busyness! At least you guys got out for a little while, and your costume is adorable! We don't really do the handing out candy thing, and I'm going to be teaching piano lessons on Halloween anyway, which will still be fun because everyone will be all dressed up.

Very cute Minnie costume! We were supposed to go out this weekend, but the party we were going to was cancelled (hosts' son was sick). We did go out last weekend, though, and had an amazing time. I'll be dressing up and handing out candy tomorrow - unless my husband wants to do that instead of taking the kids out. I'm dressing up as a vampire to match my daughter :)

hey Jolene,

Who is your thesis advisor? I am just looking for one right now, as I'm beginning my Master of Ad. Ed degree.

I went to a party this weekend, but didn't dress up and watched scary movies. My perfect way of celebrating.
Cute costume :)

I love the costume, too darn cute. I'm glad you took a break for yourself :)

I also ended up going to a friends house party, also not staying out too late. I dressed up as Fanta Grape... just a dress I got that has lots of purple. :)

Haha! Your costume is adorable!! I didn't dress up but after reading all these posts with clever costumes, I'm kind of wishing I did!

Also wishing I had someone to make me risotto 'cause it looks delicious...

Busy busy busy! First - love your costume - adorable! :) Second - holy cripes - you deserve a break. But you are so put together that I know you are smart enough to balance it all. Most people wouldn't be juicing with all that stress!

Good luck with your writing. (P.S - any tips on Vegas...if I ever were to go in the future...where to go, what to do? Is it okay to go solo or better with a group?). Miss ya!

Love the costume! I have a soft spot for anything Disney. =)

I put together a Flapper costume for a friend's party, and I think it turned out pretty well. We didn't hand out any candy, but I think I ate enough mini Twix for the whole neighborhood!
