Rut

I cannot remember the last time I went on a REAL grocery shopping trip.

My meals have been pretty repetitive as of late, and I am getting tired of it!

I have been subsiding on oatmeal for breakfast ...

And trout for dinner ...

My lunches have been lame too ...

The only vegetables I have managed eat are leftover chopped veggies from the weekends veggie tray.

I am in desperate need of a big grocery trip and a flip through a food magazine or cookbook.

I need out of my rut!

Do you ever get in a food rut?
How do you get inspiration to be more creative?

Usually when I have a few minutes of time, I start getting ideas but ...

We are off on a weekend road trip so the hubby can run a triathlon.
Guess that grocery trip will have to wait until Monday!

You know I think ruts are ok :)

I eat very similar foods day in, day out...and sometimes i do tire of them, but in general, I dont. If I did, I'd change it up but what can I say, I like eating versions on a theme :)

Lord knows I get into ruts!!! I guess we all do at some point! I find inspiration in reading magazines, blogs OR flipping through some of my old posts! Its kinda cool to be inspired by, well, by yourself!

Good luck to the hubby!!

I totally get in ruts, then I read a cookbook (usually a raw one) and get back on track! Costco also helps me with ruts!!

You can do it! !:)

I get in food ruts all the time...buying a new food mag always helps me get out of my rut and inspires me to try new things.

That trout looks awesome. When I get super busy, i def get in a huge eating rut and I live on things like baked potatoes!! And then in the summer I am gone so many weekends so I barely cook! I am getting back on track now that I am done studying and have more time on weeknights!

I am in such a food rut right now too! I think it's because I spent the last 6 weeks going to my parents house every weekend... I hardly bought groceries there and I hardly bought groceries at home. I feel like I need a spinach IV or something to get back on track!

Side note... I laughed out loud at your comments about Smarties. I had no idea they came first! But have you noticed that the taste of the candy coating has changed in the past couple years? It's way sweeter now than it used to be...

I have oatmeal nearly every morning...but I love it, and I find it to be more satisfying than anything else, so I'm okay with it.

I just bought myself a couple of new cookbooks because I've been in a rut, too. I got Quinoa 365 and Simply Great Food, which is by the Dietitians of Canada. Haven't tried any recipes yet, but there are several that look fantastic!

Triathlon at Pike Lake, by chance? I did that one last year and the weather was good, but it was not nice at all today. Hope it went well for your husband, wherever it was!

That is the story of my life. I've been out of the grocery shopping/cooking zone for too long.

Good luck to the hubby! His such an athlete!

Oh man - my life is a grocery rut..I am in a really bad food rut. I need to start making new recipes. Lord knows there are enough recipes I want to try. I just get so "bad" with food, eating too much or whatever and feel like I don't "deserve" change or need to avoid food, blah.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)
