Y

esterday
was a busy, yet fun day! I started my day with a beautiful breakfast:

I spent the day at the water slides with my grade 8s. We had an awesome day. While hanging out I had a granola bar, some pink grapefruit juice, and some chips. Lunch was pizza, and an ice-cap.

We had a major storm yesterday, with buckets of rain and hail. I don't know if my flowers are going to make it :-(

Dinner was a chicken taco (I only had 1) with black olives, cheese, and sour cream:

I spent the evening making cookies for my students, as today is my last day with them. This is the first class that I have had from the 1st day of school to the last - I will miss them:

I also made a couple batches of cake pops for my staff - I am happy to be working with them again next year.

This evening I am having 30 people over for our work end-of-the-year party.

What are you up to this weekend?

Getting Things Done

C

hecking things off the to-do list always feels great!

I accomplished a lot today both at work and home.

I fueled up this morning with 2 eggs and 1 slice of toast. I also had a glass of OJ and a coffee:

I spent the morning cleaning my classroom (I am obsessed with keeping it SUPER clean). Lunch was pizza and a small piece of cake with my students.
In the afternoon I organized my room.

Dinner this evening was a recipe from "The BIG Cook" - Saucy Chicken.
I had it over some rice:

After dinner I got ready for my students' grade 8 graduation. The evening turned out perfectly for them.

Do you remember your grade 8 graduation?

I remember mine like it was yesterday.

I spent the later part of the evening pulling weeds and cleaning my house.

There are still a few things on my to-do (soon) list:

- Buy a shoe rack
- Make cookies for my students
- Make treats for staff
- Buy a birthday gift for my SIL

What is on your to-do list?

Rainy Days and Mondays ...

L

ast Monday with students
today, and the First Day of Summer! I can't believe how fast this school year has gone by. I am so excited for the summer holidays, but I will also be sad that my class is moving on to high school. This is the first class I have had for the ENTIRE year, from the first day to the very end.

I started my day out with a chocolate grass smoothie (1 cup unsweetened chocolate almond breeze, 1 pack Amazing Grass Amazing Meal, 1 T almond butter, 1 banana):

Lunch was macaroni, cherries, yogurt with granola, a couple taco chips with dip and a bite of fudge (treats on staffroom table):

This afternoon it poured rain outside. It is still raining a bit, and the skies are black. There are tornado warnings in effect for my city today.

Dinner was lasagna and garlic bread:

With a grapefruit for dessert:

I hope the weather clears up before tomorrow, because we are supposed to be going to the park for the day to swim/ play etc..

Have you ever experienced a tornado?

I haven't.

Hubby's Triathlon and Vintage

H

appy Father's Day to all dads!!!!!

The hubby and I spent the weekend in the Saskatoon/ Pike Lake area for hubby's triathlon, so we will be celebrating with our dads a little late.

Did you miss my Mid-Year Goal Review?

On Saturday morning we woke up early and I had a quick breakfast of yogurt and a glo-bar. We did some stuff around the house, and then headed out on the road around noon. Before leaving the city we had lunch at The Creek Bistro. I had a pork and mushroom crepe with a side salad:

I absolutely love savory fillings in crepes. This dish did not disappoint!

We visited with my mom in the afternoon, and then went for supper with some of the hubby's triathlete friends. We ate at a pasta restaurant called Chianti. I had 2 pieces of bread dipped in oil and vinegar, and a carbonara dish for dinner.

We drove out to Pike Lake last night to sleep in a tent at the campground where the triathlon was taking place.

This morning I had about 1/2 of this breakfast bun:

The hubby ran his Olympic triathlon and achieved a personal best! He came in at 2:38:49 officially. Congrats Chris!

He is doing an half ironman in August - I am very excited for him!

We had lunch at Fuddruckers. I had half of a 1/3 lb. burger, and some fries with cheese dip. We visited some more with my mom and then came home.

I wasn't really hungry for dinner so I just had some tomato and avocado salad:

Later I had yogurt and granola.

I received a beautiful package in the mail the other day. I had ordered a vintage necklace from My Breakfast Shop (owner is Maggie from My Breakfast Blog). I couldn't believe how nicely she packaged the necklace ... I undid the wrap before I remembered to snap a pic:

Are you into vintage stuff? Cars? Clothes? Jewelry?

I love it all.

Goals: Mid-Year Review

S

eeing as it is the middle of the 6th month. I thought it would be a good time to review my goals for the year (10 in 2010) that I set in lieu of a New Years resolution. In case anyone was wondering, July 2nd is the actual middle of the year (182 days before, and 182 days after). I totally had to Google it!

Before I check up on my goals, here are my eats from yesterday:

Breakfast was a coconut crusted French toast, grilled banana sandwich!

Lunch was leftover won ton soup, an ice cream sundae, cherries, and a piece of cheese with a cracker.

In the afternoon I took my class bowling and to 7-11. I had an ice-cap.

It was my friend Tricia's b-day yesterday so I went to her house for pizza. We had Thai Pie, which has peanut sauce instead of tomato. Yummmmm!

I had a few drinks throughout the night, and had lots of fun catching up with friends.

Today the hubby and I are headed to Saskatoon/ Pike Lake to visit my mom, and for the hubby to do a triathlon.

Goals: Mid-Year Review

1) Learn to run - I did half of the C25K program and ran a 5 K race. Goal accomplished. I have decided that running isn't really for me. I can run, but my endurance isn't great. I don't plan on doing any other training plans in the near future, I will just run if the mood strikes.

2) Run a half marathon in September - This was a pretty lofty goal for someone who doesn't even like running. This won't be happening. FAIL!

3) Read books for fun - I have been doing this, and will continue to.

4) Find some system to organize my recipes - I haven't done this year, but I plan to do it before the end of the summer.

5) Travel to at least 2 new places (by plane) - I went to the Dominican over New Years, and then New York at Easter. I still want to fit another 1 or 2 trips in before 2011.

6) Get accepted into Grad School - Goal Accomplished!!!

7) Have dinner parties on a regular basis - I had a few earlier in the year, but I want to have many more this summer!

8) Learn to swim well - I went swimming with the hubby once or twice this year, and I can definitely swim, but I don't like swimming with my face in the water, and haven't got my breathing down properly. I will work on this in the summer.

9) Take some sort of class just for me - I am still looking into classes (I am thinking a cooking or yoga class possibly).

10) Post operation beautiful notes in as many places as I can - I haven't been doing this. I need to work on this one!

How are you doing on your New Years Resolution(s) or Goal(s)?

Giveaway Announcement

M

ost of you have probably heard of CSN Stores. I have done a giveaway with them in the past, and I was recently contacted by their promotions team to do another giveaway with my readers from one of their 250+ online stores. CSN Stores sell a wide range of goods from cookware and vanities, to tools and lights.

Before I get to the giveaway announcement, here are my eats from today:

Breakfast was a bowl of mocha oats (1/2 cup coffee, 1/2 cup unsweetened chocolate almond breeze, 1/2 cup quick oats) topped with 1 banana, 1 T natural PB, and a sprinkle of maple flakes):

I was supposed to be taking a bunch of kids to our track meet today, but it was canceled due to 100% chance of a thunderstorm. I had nothing else planned to do with the kids, so ... MOVIE DAY!!! We watched Freedom Writers. My class actually got to go see two of the original Freedom Writer's speak this year, so it was pretty cool to get to see the movie that was made about them! The students loved it. Turns out there was no thunderstorm - darn weather man.

Lunch was leftover stir fry from last night, and some cherries.

I had an ice-cap later in the afternoon while we watched the movie.

My throat is still a little sore, so the hubby picked me up some Won Ton soup for dinner. I ate 1/2 a bowl, and also snagged some of his yellow chicken curry:

The curry had yummy bites of sweet potato, and chicken - mmmm!

Life Lesson: Food tastes MUCH better when eaten with chopsticks.

Write that down.
