Feeling Better!

Last night before I went to bed I made some "ice-cream." It is just frozen strawberries, peaches, and mango with a little dribble of almond milk that has been blended together.

This morning I woke up feeling back to my usual self. Resting yesterday made all the difference!

This was breakfast:

I want to let everyone know this morning how happy I am for Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point, and Operation Beautiful. I have read her blog since day 1, and some amazing things are happening for her right now!!!! She is an inspiration!!!!

Have a great day everyone!

Special Delivery

I started feeling a bit better after I had my oatmeal this afternoon and then lounged on the couch for a few hours (watching last nights Biggest Loser). There is one thing that brightened my day ... the delivery man arrived, and left this GIANT package on my doorstep!!

This is what arrived today:

Samples of 3 different kinds of Nestea Vitao!!! Wooo hooo, free loot ROCKS!! I got a case of each of the flavours to test and review! I couldn't wait to try the White Tea with Mandarin Orange flavour:

Now, I rarely drink anything besides a cup of coffee in the morning, and water throughout the day ... but I had this and I enjoyed it! I liked that it wasn't too sweet, and that it has antioxidants and vitamins because it is made with real tea, and fruit juice. It also has NO artificial sweeteners, flavours or colors, and no preservatives. It tasted good, and "real" which is important to me. The only thing that I didn't like was that it still has added sugar in it ...

My MIL was over this afternoon and she tried the Green Tea Apple one and said that she really liked it!

I am looking forward to trying the other flavours, and I will let you know what I think of them.

The only other things I ate this afternoon were 1 slice of turkey:

And about 5 of these crackers:

The hubby called me and said that he would order pizza for supper so that I didn't have to cook anything since I am not feeling 100%. We ordered from 241 and I had 3 slices of the veggie pizza (without the crust).

Mmmm, look at all those yummy green olives - I asked for extra!

I am going to go and rest for a couple more hours, and maybe do some practice exams for my GRE test on Saturday ...

Not Feeling Well :-(

This morning I woke up not feeling very well ... I was trying to get ready for work, but it just wasn't happening. I called in sick and took the day to rest and get over whatever it is that is making me feel awful.

I did go in to work for about 20 minutes to get everything ready for my sub ... but then I came home and crashed until noon.

I just got up and made myself some oats to make me feel better. Mocha Coconut Oats (a new way than I usually make them):
  • 1/2 cup chocolate milk (I usually use plain almond milk and then sprinkle choc. chips on after)
  • 1/2 cup coffee
  • 1/2 cup organic quick oats
  • Organic coconut sprinkled on top

Now I am going to either go back to bed or curl up on the couch.

Oh it is 31C outside today - On September 23. In Saskatchewan. And I am stuck inside feeling like crap. Not cool.

I will be back later - but I don't think I will be eating much today.

I forgot to tell you ... I had one of these little guys this afternoon:

This evening I have been insatiable ... I first snacked on about 8 of these organic chips:

That I dipped in this peach/ mango salsa:

When that didn't cut it, I had some vanilla yogurt with some bran and chia seeds stirred in:

Speaking of insatiable ... anyone love dancing like a lunatic to this song in their living room? (I may or may not do this on a semi-regular basis).

No? Okay. Just thought I check.

No run tonight :-( Hubby was busy painting and it got too dark for me to go out by the park alone ... hubby said he will go with me tomorrow!

1st Day of Fall

Today is officially the first day of Fall, and although it started out pretty cool today, it turned out to be a beautiful warm day.

This morning around 10:30 I snacked on these crackers again:

Lunch was a "taco bowl" - ground beef made with taco seasoning, wild rice, and mango/ peach salsa to top it off:

For dessert I had some fruit and yogurt:

And an applesauce fruit cup:

I came home to find hubby priming our basement walls!! I can't wait to show you all some before and after pics of our basement. Our basement was completely unfinished before, and we have done MAJOR work in it (like over $30, 000 worth)! After we paint we will put in the flooring, then put the suspended ceiling up, then decorate! We hope to have it all done by the 3rd week in October (*fingers crossed*). It is really exciting though! I can't wait to have another 600 feet (approx) of livable space (the laundry room/ furnace etc takes up the other few hundred).

I made a a colorful autumn dinner for the hubby and I while he painted. We had roasted beets, roasted green veggies (green pepper, asparagus, broccoli) and baked tofu tossed with maple syrup, soy sauce and pepper:

The hubby and I are now headed to the pool to see our cute little nephew at his swimming lessons :-) I can't wait to see the little guy!

Today is also day 4 of my training for C25K and a longer run (90 second run, 2 minute walk). The 2 minute walk should make it bearable for me ... but we'll see.

Tropical Monster

This morning I felt like a Green Monster (of course), but I wanted to switch it up a bit. I made a Tropical Monster that contained:

- about 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 2 big handfuls spinach
- 1 banana
- 1/2 cup frozen fruit (peaches/ mango/ strawberries)
- 1 TBSP organic coconut
- Sprinkle Flax Seed (ground)

I also had a piece of toast with Olive Oil Margarine:

Brrrrrrr ... it is cold in my house this morning! I think all the heat that we have been getting is gone for good, because it sure feels like fall is here. Oh well, the sooner fall comes, the sooner winter will come and then I can go on my trip to the Dominican :-)

I keep waiting for the travel agent to send us our package of information about our trip/ flight times etc. It always makes it seem more real when you get that in the mail!

I LOVE vacations (duhh) and love traveling as much as possible. Hubby and I have been married 5 years and in that time we have gone on 5 trips. We have gone to Hawaii, Mexico, Cuba, Minneapolis, and Las Vegas. I want to try and go on a minimum of 1 each year, but hopefully 2 sometimes!

Where have you travelled? Do you have any travel plans coming up?

Beans Beans the Wonderful Fruit ...

Today I tried a few new products that I bought yesterday when I was grocery shopping! For lunch I had an "Amy's Organic Beans and Rice Burrito":

It was really good! I found it quite satisfying, and it kept me full until dinner, which is REALLY rare. I usually get hungry by about 3:30 or 4:00 everyday, but not today!

I also had a fruit cup:

And some of these crackers which I enjoyed with 2 pieces of cheese:

The crackers were really hard/ crunchy ... but in a good way. They are completely wheat, dairy gluten, and trans fat free. They are also vegan and kosher. Check out the ingredient list:

  • Organic Brown Rice
  • Organic Quinoa
  • Organic Flax Seeds
  • Organic Brown Sesame Seeds
  • Water
  • Organic Black Pepper
  • Organic Wheat Free Tamari
  • Organic Soybeans
  • Salt/ Sea Salt
I will definitely be buying these again!

Dinner tonight was "Chicken Chili" ... essentially cut up chicken, chicken broth, white kidney beans, chili peppers, and spices simmered for a long time. I got the recipe from a magazine.

It was good - very different than anything I have had before. This was my first time having white kidney beans (that I can think of) and they are better than the red ones for sure!

Later on in the evening I wanted a snack so I made a GREEN MONSTER :-)

Pretty healthy snack if I do say so myself.

Now it is time to go read trashy celebrity magazines ... or watch the office ... Hmmm, how does a girl decide? How do you unwind at the end of the day?
