Backyard and 150 Cake Pops

The last couple of mornings I have spent some time in my backyard either drinking my green monster ...

Admiring my flowers ...

Marveling at my cilantro that is growing like a weed ...

Or simply photographing my food ...

If it wasn't for the class I am taking, I would spend the whole day outside.

My dinners have been really good the last few of days.  On Tuesday we had sweet potato/bean burritos.  These are one of my favourite easy, vegetarian meals.  I had leftovers for lunch the next day.

Last night I made white wine coq au vin, and it was fabulous.

This evening I threw together a new salad.  I chopped up and then fried 2 slices of bacon until crisp.  I removed the bacon and then carmalized some red onions in the bacon fat.  I then removed those, and tossed pecans and strawberries into the pan for a few minutes.  I threw it all together with spinach and arugula, some balsamic and a fig goat cheese.

My other eats have looked a little something like this ...

Yes, that is cheese whiz on the celery.  I eat all the healthy stuff folks.

On another note, this evening I made about 150 cake pops.

The first step was making a bunch of cakes (which I did yesterday) ...

Then I made the pops, dipped them, let them dry and bagged them ...

Then got to work on the ribbons ...

I ran out of ribbons about a 1/4 of the way through, so the rest will have to wait until tomorrow.

The cake pops are for our friends' wedding on Saturday.

Do you ever eat outside?  Photograph food outside?
What time of day is your favourite time to be outside?
Have you ever made something for a wedding?

seeing your outside reminds me of the winters you have...and that I will be dealing with snow this year with you!!! AHHHHH. Anyways I have helped the bride with her favors and stuff before...it's fun if it's a friend...not fun if it isn't!

I'm always amazed at your cake-ball-makin' prowess!

Your cilantro is bolting (flowering) which makes it kinda bitter and near death. Next time, when it starts to flower, cut it back and it will get bushier and not so leggy that it needs a tomato cage. Sorry for the unsolicited garden advice, I'm a farmer :)

Your cake pops look gorgeous! That must have been a crazy amount of work, I couldn't imagine assembly-lining 150 of them! And I'm outside on the deck as often as possible in the summer...we basically only have 2 months of hot weather to enjoy!

You are so productive! Love it! I've only ever been to a few weddings and wasn't a big figure in them...I think if things don't work out with teaching, you should start your own Planning business :)

You are a baking machine! I would die and go to heaven if somebody asked me to bake party favors for their wedding... I'll take any excuse to get elbow deep in cookie dough!

If I were you, I wouldnt be able to look at a cake or a pop. I don't even know what a "pop" is but I'd imagine I wouldn't be able to look at it.

Lots of good eats going on over in your world, as usual. I wish I lived next door and could invite myself over for dinner. ;)
I love eating outside. I need to purchase a table for my patio so I can do that...

Nice work on the cake pops!! I have never made anything for a friend's wedding! I helped tie ribbons on my SIL's favors, but I don't think that counts!

I think I will actually be eating sweet potato and black bean burritos tonight! I love being outside. That's the one thing I really miss about being in an apartment- not having a porch!
